With a new (to me) 70 911, my first reaction as someone with more time than sense is to start tearing things apart to make them "better", so without further ado, tell me what made the biggest difference in your car for the money, anything from wrapping duct tape around that damned rattling rear-view mirror to new Bilsteins, I want to know what was really worth the time. And I don't want to hear the term 3.6, as they cost more than my car.

Assuming the brakes are working as well as they can, and the tires are good,
1. Momo (or similar) steering wheel. 2. Sport seats or aftermarket equivalent. Beyond that, it tends to get pricey.

New steering wheel was nice for the money, and I put my hands on it each time I drive!

Fix the paint (either repaint or just professionally buff/polish what you have), reupholster/redye/condition the seats, replace the carpet or just detail the entire car, including cleaning the engine and underside, clean and polish the wheels orhave them repainted if possible. When your Porsche looks good, you feel better about it and you take better care of it. There's a sense of Zen-like satisfaction when you're getting into a nice-looking Porsche.
Or maybe that's just me... Emanuel

A nice set of soft brake pads, or a set of sticky tyres.

Lowering, decent alignement sticky rubber and a nice sounding muffler.
I think this goes for almost all cars. ![]()

I have an 80SC and I installed and MSD 6AL ($250) and MSD Blaser HV Coil ($50) and Maganacor leads ($170). With new plugs, rotor and a larger gap, you can certainly feel the lower end power difference (below 3500 rpm) it is really quite substantial over the stock CD Box config. I though it was one of the best upgrades I've done to my car! Great bolt on upgrade that can be simply restored to stock if you ever want!
Wayne's got this in his 101 Projects book, or here http://www.pelicanparts.com/techarticles/mult_MSD_install/mult_MSD_install.htm .Steven 1980 SC

Toss up between (a) complete suspension rebuild (tight and lowered to euro height - feels good / looks good) or (b) seat time on the track.
Matts congrats on your 911 purchase!

New shift bushings, Gate shift kit, and short shift (in that order). I actually like my 915 now after doing those things. I "think" they all can be fit to the early tranny also.

Another vote here for a smaller steering wheel. Both my 911 and my NARP 944 have a Momo Course. Whenever I drive a P-car with a stock wheel, my first thought is "how does he drive this pig?"
