LOL Bill, same pedalbox as in my pic. Those pedals were destined for my C3 a few months back but the seller changed his mind, twin masters are the way to go.

I think that some of the cars pictured in this thread are not the type 954 SC/RS

Many are confusing the SC/RS, all 20 of which were built in '83 for homologation 1/7/84, w/ the Groupe B rally cars built from '81 to 7/83 and the subsequent version(type 953) which was a detuned, AWD car derived from the 954. These later cars used Audi transaxles

The 953(not 954 SC/RS) was the car that competed in the '84 Paris-Dakar rally.

Too right the 953 is different to the SC RS, it runs a 3.2 motor for a start, before you ever start looking at the 4wd.

Far as I know, the Rothmans cars raced in Group B all came from the initial 20 cars built for homologation but I can check that info out.

[QUOTE=MBEngineering;3039526]HI is this any good to you, taken from the (SC/RS) 954 manual,

Hi Mike

Since you have got all the details ,I have one question about the car specification.
I read in a French magazin ,since the exhaust is "spaghetti" model ;therefore Porsche's factory has provided an electrical heater;do you know which kind of heater ?
Thank you
JM

My bad,
the one I posted a picture of is an Eberspacher gas heater it is a picture of the trunk of SC/RS #16 of 20 built to Groupe B evo homologation specs, cost new was ~$72,000. there were 2 trim levels, street & rally. #16 is a street touring version, but you can still see the twin m/c reervoirs next to the heater cover

There was a nice article on the SCRS in one of the recent Porsche mags out of the UK. I can't find the issue right now, but I think it was Total 911, or perhaps 911 And Porsche World.

I'll see if I can find the issue, but it seemed a well-done article, and the one thing I remember learning from it was that the cars were built because of a loophole in the regulations that allowed far looser homologation rules if the car was based on a redundant model - hence the SC basis for the car even though the Carrera was already the standard production model.

These are AWESOME cars. Maybe my favorite 911 ever. We have a replica coming on th Carolina Trophy this year, and I can't wait to see it...

Here's a few pics that I took at North Freeway Porsche in Houston many moons ago (maybe early 80's). I believe this is the real deal.

Notice the graphics in the rear window. Anyone know if this was 'standard' on the street versions?

Was standard for sure, on every one I have seen. Freisinger brought #11 to the Essen Techno Classica last month:

Thread archaeology of the SC RS kind!

I just posted a superb Porsche 911 SC RS rally video some of you might like on my Classic Porsche Blog. It's the story of a fight to the wire between two hard-charging Irishmen on the Donegal International Rally in 1985.

26 minutes long and worth watching it all.
