Head Temp Sensor Tool

For those who are interested, the special tool for removing and installing the cylinder head temperature sensor....

14mm 3/8" drive Flare nut socket from Snap-On:

Part# = FRXM14

I did my sensor this evening and it took 1 hour without the tool. If I had the tool, it would have been done in 1/2 hour.

I am ordering the tool to snug up my sensor ( just to check) as I used needle nose pliers on the install.

I will use this tool again in ten years. Anyone wanting to borrow it in the Philadelphia area is welcome.

Buy any cheap 14mm deep socket, and grind a slot in it. Works like a charm.

ZOANAS....

I tried that and the sockets I had were so tough I couldn't grind a dent into them. What are you using to slot the socket?????

I used a Makita angle grinder with a 3" disc. I also used a dremel to smooth it out.

I just cut a slot in a 14mm box wrench. It's not like I use it for anything else.

Like the others I cut a slot in a Craftsman 14 mm deep socket with my 3.5" Dewalt grinder. The socket was $2 or 3.
regards,
Steve

I think I used a flare nut wrench. But mine was easy because the engine was on a stand, out of the car.

I think a flare wrench would be too. It's a tight fit with a somewhat chunky Craftsman box wrench.

Photo of the one I made with my Dewalt grinder and a Craftsman 14 mm Deep Socket? Do you think this voids the craftsman warranty?
