Great looking Targa Ydobbs, and I see you're local! Love the wheels. I went with the Fikse Fuchs for my Targa. Then went with the 914 version of these on my 3.2 914! Here's a picture.

Shaun, You have no idea how many times I have been thinking about those modifications you suggested
In the meanwhile here's the newest little mod for the front of the car, the Xenon headlights. It's a bolt-on type of implementation, and easy to revert back to original H4's if I'm having second thoughts about the looks.Next mod for this targa will be the mandatory ducktail ![]() Cheers, Rauli

I've been following this thread for several years whilst I've restored my car and backdated it. The pictures have been a great help and an inspiration. So thanks all.
I used all genuine parts and we fabricated where the bits didn't fit. Finished the car this summer and still ironing out the wrinkles but alls pretty good now. Still a few odds and ends, but getting there. Heres the pics. I guess you'll all know where the inspiration came from! :-) Nick |

Nick, that is one good looking Targa
![]() It seems that you kept the SC rear fender flares? The color, the interior and all look phenomenal. What are the front seats and the radio? Excellent job! |

My 1978 targa is now for sale in the classifieds section, figured someone here would be interested.

So I already posted this as a topic, but then I saw this thread and I figured with all these Targa owners on this topic...maybe this would be a good place to ask:
Do any of you get left hip pain because of the smaller left footwell on the Targa and and the location of the clutch? I used to be fine driving it, but the the last couple years I'm in pain within 20 minutes in my left hip. ![]() Anyway, here are a couple photos to add to the thread. The engine one is from a rebuild that was just completed! ![]()

Never experienced any pain. And I have a pretty severely bad back. I'm however, sitting in a Recaro SRD that hugs me all over.

Hi, and thanks for the nice words.
The cars actually a 1985 3.2 Carrera and not an SC, but the rear arches are the same. We could have removed the rear wings and gone the whole hog, but I felt it looked nice with the wider wheels which give it a bit more of an aggressive stance. I wasn't trying to imitate an older car, just make it "in the style of" rather than a complete copy. The seats are RennSport sports seats. We bought the cheapest vinyl covered ones and recovered them. They're readily available. The Radio is a Becker RetroSound. It's a good radio with bluetooth compatibility, but I prefer the sound of the engine and so it doesn't get used very much. :-) |

Here is a pic of my first targa. It's an 84 Euro spec car.
I bought it in Germany and had a lot of paperwork for it, including some fun facts. For example about the rear spoiler. According to some of the documents it had been installed at Porsche in Stuttgart but it was removed by the time I bought the car. You can see the plugs under the grill. I put a spoiler back on the car shortly after.
