I just clicked over 170K miles. Running beautifully, but using a bit too much oil.

As my dad told me when I was in high school and wanted to have the motor rebuilt in my 240Z: "$600 would a lot of oil."

How much is a "bit too much"?

Maybe 500-600 miles per quart. I definitely see a correlation between engine heat and oil consumption. For this season, I’ve made it so the fan on my Carrera cooler comes on earlier (up till now, it’s been coming on at “9:30” on the temp guage, now it’s at “8:30”). We’ll see how this goes.

Getting up early to beat the Arizona heat is worth it for great drives and scenic views.

Hi I just picked up this mutt 82 with the front nose off a 90’s model. Been sitting g and has a few issues but overall I’m pumped to finally own a 911! I’m not sure what direction I want to go in with this? Repaint/wrap, safari ect. Thanks for looking

Eeek, you're about there

Take the time, plan the build, enjoy the process! I had mine off the road for almost 3 years and while it seemed like it took forever and would never be finished...the wait was well worth it!

Car is now as reliable as an appliance, makes all the fantastic noises, and goes like absolute stink

Targa top

You made my day with your pics.
Now some fixes
1. Rattle in back. Rear pins need covers 74-94. grease hinges in rearall 3.
2. Front too tight. Wrong front seal. 95 was last factory made correct seal.
3. Front of top loose. Latches have play yes even hook style wears out, roller much ore.
4. Rattle in back. Clips need adjusted and may be spread. Stuff inside to wears out.
5. Wind noise at vent. Side needs trimmed at rear so top will slide all the way back. Front of roll bar seal changed and not seated properly.

Here is my ALL original 1975 Carrera Targa, one of only 174 produced that year for the US market. It was sold new by Al Holbert Porsche-Audi dealership in Pennsylvania. It came with the factory hard top which still retains.
