Did you strip the Targa bar to get it silver? Or transplant from an earlier Targa?

Thanks OnBoost!!
As for the targa bar- I had it stripped to the bare stainless steel. When I was going to do it, I did some research here on Pelican and it seems most targa bars are s.s. under the paint - at least through the early 1980's SC's. Dave |

cannonball-
I had standard 6 and 7's but used spacers to fill out fenders. The spacers really helped... Now I have moved the 7" rears up front and got a set of 8" for the rear. No spacers. You get more of a sport look with the deeper dish to the rims. here are some side shots showing the depth.I think it made a huge difference. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() before shot with 6 & 7's with 7mm and 22mm spacers respectively. Looked good - just not as sporting.( I have the spacers if anyone is interested) ![]() That Blue targa above is beautiful! Love that color - |

You don't see too many of the hard tops (I had one on my old soft-window S). And that stripe adds a difinitve look to that car! Nice!

60th Birthday present to myself
Always wanted a 911, had a 914 for several years until Hurricane Katrina got it. So I vowed that by my 60th birthday I'd have a 911. I made 60 this past May and after a lot of searching bought this 78 911 SC Targa.
It use to belong to an Episcopal Reverend. The engine has 28,000 miles on a complete overhaul including the transmission. Picked it up in Atlanta and it was an adventure just getting there. Rode Greyhound for over 18 hours and then drove straight back home. Drove it home to Abbeville La over a 12 hour ride and it never missed a lick. I was surprised that it got right at 28 MPG. Pretty good for a 34 year old car. It needs a paint job and I'm working on getting the AC working again, but that's about it. After all these years I finally got one. I also have a Honda S2000 but it's no comparison to the old 911. Probably get rid on the Honda soon................ Here are a few photos of my 911 Targa. Welcome to the Targa world. Great car and I like the stainless Targa bar. One thing you also may want to consider is lowering the car to Euro- height if it is not too much trouble. But then, in Louisiana, not to being too close to the ground is a good thing?
