Ahh. I was hoping someone who knows these roads better would pipe up. I just thought it would be good to try some new roads. Any other ideas? Is up Decker OK? We have roads up here that are safer one direction than the other too.
Oh, and I am always willing to follow you Howard. Although come to think of it, I'm not so sure that's a great idea after what you did to SLITS last time. Andrew Last edited by phantom914; 08-17-2004 at 08:11 PM.. |

By that, I mean the one that leaves at 9:30 or 10:00 in the morning? (How do you guys get up so early?) Inspiration:

I had a great time last weekend, either Gelsons or Coco's again would be great, count me in. If we did the same route/map as last weekend's run, I wouldn't exactly be dissapointed. Sometimes it's nice to become familiar with the roads so you know where you can and can't push the car. Plus it's pretty convenient to most people that attended. Howard, a stop for breakfast at Super Tommy's I think would definately be in good order
Mmmm...that Denver Omlet was GOOOD!!!!!!! But I'm open to new roads, I just want to get in and drive. I think the 7am starting time was a good start time (even if I did show up late!!!), early enough to avoid a lot of the traffic/hazzards and to appease the early birds and late enough to get enough sleep that you're not tired during the run. Hopefully I'll have my new Recaro's in by then!!! Whatever the route we do, someone please post a map so we could print it out and all be on the same page incase someone like myself shows up late, they can still catch up or meet the rest of the group along the way. I can't wait, I'm getting excited all over again!!!Scott aka Mouse

You dead set on the time? I'd sure like to get just a little more shut eye on a Sunday.

Nothing is dead set, but I do think we should start out early. I like the idea of a middle rendezvous point, maybe the early birds could start on the PCH side and meet the "druggers" closer to the 101, then cruise back to PCH for breakfast as a group? I dunno, just throwing out an idea...
I really don't have enough knowledge of the roads in that area to be route master, so I'll leave that to more expereinced minds.

I'll tag along with my MINI like last time. I don't want to bring the 911 out, it's not ready or safe for canyon-carving just yet.

We've driven a pretty good route a couple of times, out there. We meet up at the Gelson's in Calabasas (22277 Mulholland Hwy), head south on Mulholland Hwy to Stunt Road, up to the top of the hill, right on Schueren Road, right at the stop sign, onto Piuma, all the way to Las Virgenes, right, until you go left onto Mulholland Highway again, which you take all the way past the Rock Store, all the way to -- a choice -- Encinal, Decker (Westlake), Yerba Buena, or just continuing on Mulholland Highway all the way to the PCH. Then we could take Encinal to Mulholland to Kanan to back over the hill and over to Super Tommy's.
A map of the area: Of course, with all that said, I like the idea of maybe a midway point where the drug dealers could hook up with the early birds. And at this point, I can't be 100% certain I'll be able to get out that way at all this weekend -- but my fingers are crossed.

I've been on parts of what Jack suggested, good stuff, I'm in. I also vote for earlier rather than later, 7ish.

I really advise against running Decker (and especially Latigo) unless you already know the road, they are quite challenging. Jack's route is really the best IMHO

I've always had fun on that route, let's do it.
How about taking Yerba Buena down to PCH instead of Decker? Jack-O claims it's a fun little twisty section.
