Agree I am over due for some photo updates.
I took the camera in one day but just got busy on the car and forgot to take some shots.
I will take some very soon of the RSR+ navigating the snow topped speed bumps of the Mirage industrial park.

The only thing left before the freeway drive is to ….
Gusset/weld bump steer spacer to JRZ steering arm and strut.
Corner balance and align.
Complete front bumper mods.
Buy gray wig to wear during test drive to hopefully calm police.

After the freeway drive we will.

Remove header.
Index engine -20 fitting.
Re-Hang -20 line.
Install -20 floor tunnels.
Install oil breather to oil sump return line.
Change oil filter.
Change oil.

Break in engine and de-bug car at the PCA DE in San Diego on November 13.

Then Dyno engine.

Here was the "to do" list for October, all completed, thankfully.

Engine.
Throttle cable, check for full throttle.
Plug all unused vacuum lines and ports.
K&N Air filter
Make Upper Fan shroud cover and vent to dual distributor belts.
Install O2 sensor in header.
Wire Air/Fuel meter engine side of O2 sensor.
Install ECU on anti-vibration platform.
Test ECU #1 and #2.
Test 4 chips, stock and modified.

Oil system.
Install larger front center cooler.
Install and test early model oil pressure sender.
Connect and test oil temperature gauge and sender.
Breather for oil system lines through chassis heater duct.
Mount breather higher than sump in front trunk.
Install oil breather drain return line back into sump.

Fuel system.
Connect and test fuel gauge and sender.
Bolt gas tank to car.
Install adjustable fuel pressure regulator.
Install fuel cell breather line to breather with ball check valve.

Transaxle.
Install and plumb Transaxle cooler in plenum and duct to rear quarter window.
Install, wire and plumb trans pump and filter.
Install small clutch spring on bottom of trans case.
Install custom 930 CVs and boots.

Brakes.
Connect brake lines.
Fabricate rear brake lines in removed seat area.
Install front brake cooling system.
New brake fluid and bleed brakes.

Suspension.
Check and weld front pan and side seams.
Set ride height.
Bump steer.
Make 3 inch cold rolled rifle drilled bump steer spacer.
Gusset/weld bump steer spacer to JRZ steering arm and strut.
Corner balance and align.
Check rear tire to inner fender clearances.
Install front and rear sway bars.
Route front and rear shock hoses.

Misc.
964 rubber and rear lexan quarter windows.
Install Naca duct in rear quarter window.
Install rear window fiberglass frame.
Make and install rear Lexan flush mounted rear window.
Install A/F meter in dash.
Modify front bumper. After ride height set cut/adjust splitter for ground clearance. Enlarge oil cooler opening and cover with SS screen and resin. Modify brake ducts.
Cut lip off rear bumper install license plate with new tags.
Install wipers.
Install front and rear turn signals
Install head lights.
Remove 18x10.5 and 18x13 race rims and slicks to check fit of 17x9.5 and 17x12 street rims and tires.

I'll get some pictures posted soon!

I'll try to be there to run interference for you when you are ready for the freewway. Maybe Jim and I can wear Ronald Reagan masks and run at high speed ahead of you. Kind of like a modern version of Smokey and the Bandit.

Congrats on the progress!!

Sweet!
Jim has been a big BIG help and my overdue photos will include all of the tin work that he completed in September. If Jim had not stepped up no doubt my car would still be waiting at one of the other local tin shops.
Thanks Jim.
I'll have your Hyde Park Cafe at the DE!

Hey Doug that would be great. I just need a couple good friends to run a distraction, maybe commit some misdemeanors on que in the event a cop does get on my tail.

Today at Mirage Jae Lee and Dave corner balanced and alighned the RSR+.
The car came right into specs with no problems.
Here is a couple quickie photos of Jae and Dave at the shop.
Sunday might be our freeway test day.

Jae has his scales elevated on stands.

Setting the ride height with respect to front A arm angles.

Measure, measure and more measuring.

Camber adjustment.
Jae's favorite type of suspension to adjust, all hiem connections no rubber bushings.

Front bumper has been shortened for added ground clearance.
More fiberglass work left to do.
We will use this as a plug for a new f/g mold after the DE next Sunday.

I'll get some photos of it on the ground asap.

It's at Qualcomm Stadium in Mission Valley, a PCA-SDR event. Come on down.

I was at Jae's yesterday and checked out the car, Mike. He was using a wrench the size of my arm to tighten up the -20 oil lines! That thing is a beast! Can't wait to see it on the track. Hope it's ready by the 13th.

Yah, and he's got Mom sweeping up and Dad straightening out the parts bins. I was wondering if I could get on the payroll.

You are right, nice detective work.

This includes my svelte 230lbs, 14 gallons in the 27 gallon fuel cell and a full front oil sump.
The RSR+ final weight is about the same as when it was an RS bodied track/street car.
I was concerned the addition of all the cage work, oil sump system, steel flares, big rims and tires might add up. It appears lowyder993s's light aluminum work in the rear seat area and the plastic rear windows off set the weight gain.

Quick photo of the front oil sump and to the right small oil breather.
A small drain back line goes from the breather back into the bottom of the sump.
The oil breather is self draining.
A -20 line goes from the sump to the engine.
-16 line is used from the engine to the coolers and then returns to the sump.
A second -16 engine breather line returns from the engine to sump.
Then a short -16 line connects the actual oil breather to the top of the oil sump.

No thermostat, not uncommon for track cars.
The thermostat ID was restrictive so it was not used.
I'll have to be careful on cold starts not to over pressure the oil system.
We'll be testing at the San Diego DE next Sunday, come on down.

230# - driver
20# - helmet/suit/etc
90# - gas

Is my math lousy, or does that work out to about 2250 pouds or so for a widebody with those kinds of wheels and tires?

That's pretty awesome. (It's about 150# less than my all-fiberglass-but-the-roof 911.)

Those are good numbers especially since the weight is in all the right places.

Your math is good, overall wieght estimate a bit low,
based on numbers I tossed out this morning.

Jae has the wieght with fuel written down.
I think it was around 2370 with fuel.
Actually fuel was closer to 10 gallons.
10x6lbs = 60lbs
Looks like we added about 216 for the driver.
so..
2586 - 276 = 2310 with oil, no fuel.

So at the moment the RSR+ is a bit lighter than your car .
You have some added wieght with the AC system, two chairs and the stock rear seat sheet metal.
I plan to add a second seat with belts, on board fire system, camera and radio systems.
I think they will end up about the same.

Weight aside, "about the same" will never describe the relationship between our two cars.

I'll wave as you go by. Watch for me in your rear-view.

SCCA champ James Gunn Willkenson will be cruising it during the shock scan but I'll take the credit.
