Gratuitous Sunday drive photos.
Happy to report it was uneventful.
We put some street legal tires on it.
My other 911 17x9.5 275x40x17 fronts with MSPC street tires.
The rears are Hoosiers I borrowed from Jae as my turbo offset 17x12s had too much negative offset.
The 335x35x17 rear tires are 1.5 smaller in diameter and an inch narrower than the slicks.
So just cruised around San Diego, Misson Valley, Mira Mesa back to La Jolla to break in the engine.
Varying the rpm and load around the local freeways.
Jae followed me for the first 10 minutes got the thumbs up so I broke away and after a half hour returned to Mirage.
Jae give it the once over twice.
So did another half hour cruise with a couple of pulls through the gears from 3500 to 5000, fun.
Actually rode very smooth similar to 23/32 torsion bars.
I'm going to need some street rims and tires so I can enjoy street driving it between track days.
Tomorrow a little more track prep and lettering.
Just a little promotion for the shops that have been so helpful.
Need a Pelican sticker too!
DE Sunday, thanks for your interest.

Are you going to add some mud flaps to the front to prevent chipping those huge rear flairs? Craig911 has some on his 930. I'd hate to see such a sweet car get a bunch of stone chips.

Interesting idea, I'll have to check out what Craig has on his car.
In the past I have used clear 3M Stone-guard on the front facing surfaces.
My own tires and my competitors too have chipped paint and cracked glass. Thanks for the thought.

I don't know how you drove that thing out of the Mirage parking lot! I was at the tech session a few weeks back and despite my best efforts still managed to scrape on one of the hundred or so speed bumps and the exit into the street.

Check above for the first run results, not bad. DE is this Sunday.
I’m back at Mirage today to install the wing, running boards, slicks and some Vinyl lettering.

Glad you made the Jae's Tech session, hope you liked it.
In my best Seinfeld, Why do they call them speed bumps?
Shouldn't they be called very slow bumps or inverted potholes or..

It was Sunday so with an empty parking lot I drove around a few,
took radical angles and occasionally barely scraped the rear sway bar mounts and pan.
With the normal taller 27 inch rear tires I might have got out clean.

Mike,
Congrats on the progress!!
How did it pull from 3500 to 5k?
What is your schedule at Jae's? I'm going to run an errand down that way and may drop in, if you will be there.

Doug

I think that car could win the Tribute to Le Mans.

Don't get me wrong, I like Mike and I dig his car. But the winner of the 2005 Tribute turned a 1:38 best lap. I suspect, but am not sure that Mike will be happy to break into the 1:40's.

True. With less than 400 hp, it won't be the fastest car out there. But a four hour race can settle out so that the toughest outlast the fastest.

(And that might not be the last engine Mike puts into it.)

As is, I think the car will be spending time in very nice neighborhoods -- by which I mean the 40's at Fontana, the 50's at Thunderhill, the 40's at Sears Point, the 30's at Laguna and the 20's at Willow Springs.

ya know what? The side view of the car lends some ideas like chopping the roof and laying back the windshield. C'mon mike- why not?

looks awesome- nice job!

Hey Doug, Kinda like last time we were in a Leucadia (Quaaludia) bar watching some hot chick on ecstasy, 5K was just a tease.

Now San Diegan Chris Burns has an early tub 1:23 Big Willow car, that car could win the Tribute.

Now Jack just a little back at ya, something about being 3 days away from driving my own car again.
Jack your next screen play could set global box office records.
So as soon as it happens I will gladly drive you to Academy awards in my car.
Hopefully next year!
PS you better bring the wife and party with us/R Gruppe and TRE in PS next weekend!

Dave Please, my doors (handles exempt) are original “T” doors. Somehow I do think the previous owner Alian Jamar with respect to his POC 911 chop top turbo Tribute contender would approve.

See I still got some smack.

Couple quick photos.
The bump steer spacer has been welded and gusseted to the JRZ strut.
ERP 935 front suspension. Smart racing sway bar.

Now, I have the ERP extended bump steer kit (from srp) and your looks longer than mine, uhhhhhh that doesn't sound good... Where did you get that one? I like the welding idea, that is on my list of things to do early next week!

Just a plug for Jae if I may, been talking with him on email about some stuff and he is prompt in his responses and seems to be a great guy to deal with.

Cheers
