Steel wool. That does the trick to knock the luster off of glossy paint. The primer base coat ensures the paint sticks better. Nice job.

Ha! That makes sense. I steel wooled to get rid of the speckly after spray, not to make it matt, but it all turned out nicely

To do the center caps...
Spray the whole cap silver
Mask the area around the crest
Spray the crest black
Sand the high relief to get the black paint off
Took <5mins per cap, not counting drying time.

Be careful with the steel wool. It can leave steel residue on the aluminum wheel, and when it oxydizes, you will ruin the wheel.

Those last two pictures are 16" rims. As you said, the first is a 15" which has less "lip" coming out from the center when compared to a 16.

I get that the wider the rim, the more lip there is! What I'm talking about is the actual line where the black ends. On the first photo the black wraps around the lip almost to the outer rim, including the area where the valve stem is. In the second 2 pics the black doesn't even come out onto the "lip."

The center of the Fuch is the same size, the 16" rims have a taller verticle lip because of their larger diameter. The center is still painted similarly to the 15" rims, only the larger verticle lip is not. That is how they came from the factory.

I thought these looked good because of the color and chrome trim. Still for sale btw
