Didn't happen Ed - I stayed up till 4:00 am putting it in Saturday night.

I put it in myself - really wasn't difficult. I had my Son's Birthday, just bought another house, this weekend - so lots of stuff going on during the day. Today I made some progress on the B & B hardlines - One of mine was ABSOLUTELY stuck - had to dremel it off - it would not budge - even with heat.

It'll happen soon.

This is what my old speed and reference sensor looked like - if mine can get this way at 57,000 miles - wonder what some of these higher mileage cars look like...

Update - one of my old oil lines had a minor leak so I am getting it fixed today (same shop that redid my fuel line) then on with the B & B...

Looking good JD.

Yeah, those reference sensors are bull#$%@. They don't stand the test of time as far as the sheathing is concerned. Stuff gets cooked to a crisp, but the sensors themselves are still fine. Darn things are NOT cheap to replace.

My speed and ref sensors have no rubber sheathing at all! Naturally they will be replaced.
Jeremy, with all the stuff you have going on you still find time to work on the car. A big congrats!!!

Thanks Greg - it's been tough to juggle the time and keep everybody happy - and I have to say - it has taken me much more time than I thought it would. Of course, I am to blame for much of it - Wayne's book says 40 hours R & R an engine - I probably have close to that in just the cleaning and painting...

Like the oil line - if has a slight leak at one of the connectors. Not enough for a drip but enough for a gummy deposit. Does it need to be replaced? Maybe not - but while it's off it will be!

The positive side is that effectively I shouldn't have too do much on the car in the near future.... and of course, the engine will match the rest of the car!

Good job. did you get some of those line fasteners powdercoated? Nice touch!

Your efforts have given me inspiration. I started cleaning my tranny yesterday and today. It had soooooo much gunk all over!
I'll bet I will need another day or two in order to get mine close to as clean as yours.

It's a sickness... of course while in the wheel well - had to clean that up too. My car should be 20 lbs lighter from just the gunk that was removed!

More progress tonight. Installed AC Compressor, vacuum lines, cruise control, shifter coupler, muffler (B & B - Yech) and new accelerator transmission connector - I buggered up the last one while removing.

Anyway - I am just about there - hopefully will be cranking her up tomorrow night

Congrats on the quick rebuild.

I just looked at the "rebuilding my 930" thread and I think that guy needs your help to get his motor done before he starts collecting social security checks.

When the muffler falls apart, get a Dynomax #17725 and you're all set. Just gotta find a reputable exhaust place to weld you some pipes from the headers and bend you some tailpipes.

Oh yeah, lookin' good. Fire that bad boy up and break in those new cams!

Gotta put on the rear sway bar on, reinstall my DME - Steve Wong Chip already in, add oil, build up pressure and fire this puppy up. My goal was to be finished by the end of August - So technically only missed by a couple of hours

As far as the muffler goes, I have a deposit with Ben to make me a muffler that will fit the B & B Headers - this muffler will be fine for break in.

Got the swaybar on - filled with oil - dme back in... Pulled the relay to build oil pressure, built nicely - sounded like an engine for once but unfortunately no joy. I was running out of daylight and didn't want to have to run it for 20 minutes (IF) it started.

I definitely have gas. No spark - no cough - no splutter. I checked spark plug wires to make sure they were routed correctly and looks like they are - No timing light.

I'm tired so will start fresh tomorrow. Suggestions?

I'm stupid, but I did forget to install my coil wire.....Made a HUGE difference, in that the motor actually started.

Seriously, take a break, then come back with a fresh mind and look over all of the connections.

Crank it again tomorrow when you're fresh, relaxed and not pressed for time. After building oil pressure without the DME relay connected, I reinserted the relay and my motor just "spun" for 10-15 seconds (seemed like an eternity) before catching, albeit only briefly. Coughed, sputtered, etc and than just plain died. Turned the key again and almost instantly it roared to life. You may have given up too early.

It'll start sooner or later...

Ralph

P.S. - Too late now, but I wouldn't have reconnected the rear swaybar until AFTER the motor is running and there aren't any major leaks somewhere that would necessitate the motor being dropped again. Saves you some time in the unfortunate event that were to happen.

Save another 50 and ditch the A\C! You got the (feminine) cab, what do you need that for?

Yeah thought about that too as I was torqing the last bolt...

I think that once you drop an engine - that you can probably cut your time in 1/2 the next time...

Feel much better today - got a decent night sleep after a week of 4-5 hour nights. I'll tackle today and over the long weekend.

Woo Woo - we have success - If you were all here I would buy you all a beer! Refernce and speed sensor were switched (no spark) then distributor was 180 degrees.

Idle is a little high - but steady - sounds good - Now an oil change - and the two lines that I installed are both leaking... any suggesstions on these?

No leaks from the engine - it got hot on break in - and just smelled funny. Did I tell you it was smooth?

Are those new oil lines that are leaking? If so and if the leak is at the hard/rubber junction then I would think they are defective. Just my 0.02

A huge congrats!!! I'll bet you have a BIG smile on that face right now, bigger if the oil lines did not leak...
