These cars are beautiful, but the originals were twitchy little b*stards and not very safe , either on the track or less on the street. I think the new Lotus offerings offer a better more modern chassis and are similar in weight and nimbleness.

The Beck 904 has some great advantages and disadvantages. Becks 904 has a much safer chassis construction and is better setup for the transition to racing. The body and interior fall short of the "Original or Factory 904". The M&W 904 pros and cons are just the inverse. I do prefer the over all appearance of the M&W unit body and interior. But the Beck model is safer. If only the Beck unit would evolve its body and interior (dash unit is very weak in comparison to the original) more toward the original, they would have a real overall winner of a product.
However, the Beck 904 has its US EPA and DOT local issues, it has been licensed in the US. I seriously do not believe you can get a M&W 904 version that is street legal for the US under any circumstances, its has to be a racing model only, not for street use. The M&W does not comply in any shape or form to modern US DOT compliance even with a modern US approved engine. It would appear to go beyond grey to black market. I think if you check, the M&W 904 has not really been licensed for street use in the US. IF it has been licensed, its an omission by the licensing state in not really checking into the car and its background. No matter which state, I believe you will be at risk of having it confiscated and be fined seriously if local authorities start digging, or if one of your Nemesis's rat you out. You better talk to some legal eagles before you fork over your dineros for a M&W 904 in the US unless it is for racing only. It is a shame, because they have best "original" unit on the market. In California, unless Beck can get one pf the 500 exemptions issued a year, they need to conform with currnet smog laws. Air cooled engines don't qualify. So they sell them as unfinished rollers....

I would fork out the $$ for one of Beck's 904..details has to be sorted out as to what type tranny and engine is to be used. For some people its too much money, but for others not quite so. The bottom line is.."as long as you're happy is all that matters"..To each his own..

If you have not seen this old ad at the 904 Store, it is very useful to compare the material presented in the marketing for the Beck 904 and M&W 904. The Beck unit appears to modeled more closely to the 904/6 unit and the M&W 904 appears to be modeled more closely to the 904/4 unit.
1965 Porsche 904 Carrera GTS 904/6 GTP Factory Prototype for sale: Anamera Check out the originals dash and interior, and compare it to the other two. Also, compare it to Porsche930dude's pictures of the 904/4 unit in the 01-07-2009 posting, very nice! You decide. Both are very nice rides! ![]()

i like them because they are so much like the originals that you can pass it off as one. I mean in comparrison to a lamborghini on a fiero chassis or a bugatti on a vw chassis. same goes for most gt-40 replicas. Its so cool that its possible for joe shmo to be able to have an awesome car like these.

I have seen the M&W one in person, and it nicely finished and have also seen the Becks in person.... I do like the Beck too as I would not be after a "faithful reproduction"....
Cheers

i may have posted about the beck on this thread before, but i had driven one of the early prototypes and it is by no means twitchy or ill handling. Chuck has revised suspension geometry so the car handles soo much better than even the best set up original.
Randy (Chuck's son) has done extremely well in POC track competition with one of the cars. This is against full on 996 and 997 cup and RSRs too !
