Any way we can you guys over here on a work visa or something:D Love the die-grinding w/ no glasses...we don't need no stinkin' glasses!
|
Man, I find installing the WEVO SPS plates a major mod; then I see this project and find myself sooooo small! Compare this to the Jack Olsen BB 2; everything is so relative.

Really impressive work! Thanks for keeping us posted! Very interesting ideas, too. GREAT project!
What's the modified shifter about (what problems does it solve)? Could you tell us more? Doug |
Quote:
915 shifter is hinged in the middle and you take power out on the other side of the stick so all movements are reversed. G50 gearbox needs all movements to follow your hand so completly different mechanism is done. Stick is hinged in the bottom with two uniballs, power is taken from the middle of the stick. So you can say lower end of the stick is movable transversally and middle end (where you tap the movement to gearbox input shaft) is movable longitudinaly and axialy. I know it's hard to explain but take a look at fabspeed aftermarket shifter and you'll understand. |
Proud to be Swede ! :D
Astonishing Göran ! I am building up confidence to change the tie rods. (duh.. did I just admit to that..?) |
Goran,
This is an incredible thread. Thanks for posting. |

Your written description is great.....I actually follow without needing the review of fabspeed's product - very cool! I guess that lends it to ask: why not use an aftermarket one? Is it because you are fabbing SO much already? Cool project - you guys are SERIOUSLY hard core. I've been welding in rear chassis reinforcements to my car and have a 3.6 ready to go in mine, which required redoing the oil cooling system, adapting the chassis wiring. My project is NOTHING compared to what you maniacs are doing over there. I'm in AWE! (not that we are competing). Good luck and thanks again! Doug |

One of guys happpends to be CNC operator so it felt quite unecesserary to buy complete unit. ;) |
Göran, this is just the best - when are you going to let us locals in for a closer look  I need some motivation to do my front suspension, and by the sound of it so does Markus :)
It must be time for a beer meeting ;) |
Pål: as soon as car starts taking shape I'll try to arrange a garage meet. Right now there are things all over the place and car is in pieces so we are trying to get our minds set on puting it together.

Couple of pics of new engine/intercooler setup, done by company called "ML Wankeltrim". They are experts in intercooling, porting and Rotary-engine tuning. Runners are much longer now, which will hopefully enchance off-boost breathing and lower boost-treshold.
Yeah, it starts to look real stockish now :D :D http://www.itsfun.nu/if2_2006/1602/IMG_0117.JPG http://www.itsfun.nu/if2_2006/1602/IMG_0118.JPG http://www.itsfun.nu/if2_2006/1602/IMG_0119.JPG http://www.itsfun.nu/if2_2006/1602/IMG_0127.JPG |
OK Göran, I look forward to the invitation for beer and ITF2 presentation day :) Can I bring my "Its to slow 1" for some custom update at the same time :D

Couple of pics of what happened today.
We are fabricating a shield that will force fan to suck air trough intercoolers only: http://www.itsfun.nu/if2_2006/1802/if2_001.jpg DIY G50 shifter is taking shape (this is a prototype that will be much lighter in final version): http://www.itsfun.nu/if2_2006/1802/if2_002.jpg Rear hardpoints are being manufactured: http://www.itsfun.nu/if2_2006/1802/if2_003.jpg http://www.itsfun.nu/if2_2006/1802/if2_005.jpg Lot's of pipes in the back (at this point I whish we went 935 route and just built the car on spaceframe and then attached body onto it): http://www.itsfun.nu/if2_2006/1802/if2_007.jpg More work to be done tommorow. |
Goran:
Will the engine cool as efficiently by having to draw the air through the intercoolers? j.p. |
Quote:
As far as I see it, it won't really matter as fan draws enormous amounts of air and intercoolers of this size will never get hot enough to significantly alter engine temperature by raising coolant air temps. We are buildning the shrout so part of it can be opened in case there are problems with drawing air trough intercooler. Couple of pics from today: http://www.itsfun.nu/if2_2006/1902/if2_001.JPG http://www.itsfun.nu/if2_2006/1902/if2_002.JPG http://www.itsfun.nu/if2_2006/1902/if2_010.JPG |

This thing is unbelievable! Will it be road legal?
|
It's amazing, the whole 1/3 rear of the body has been completely removed and then reconstructed; almost seems as if the engine has minimal structure holding it up.
j.p. |
Are you guys going to do through-the-hood venting of the front oil cooler?
|
Great updates Goran!! Absolutely jawdropping stuff! So this is what you guys do inside during all those cold months. ;)
