Matteo, looking really good!!!
Any chance you can snap a pic of how they adapted the cable throttle linkage of the ITB's to the "rod" linkage of the car?? Cheers |
Jeff
the motor is like 700 miles away. I think Timmins will do that when the actual car is there with him. I plan to drive up sometimes in January. That way he'll have 2 months to tune the thing and get it ready for the track season in March. PS I will contact you soon for a set of Kodiak 18's for the Comp tires. |
Matteo I see you are utilizing a distributor, that is why I asked what you were using for ignition. I am also using the Motec M600 but I went with the M&W CDI for ignition and M&W double ended coils. Looking good, it will be interesting to see the numbers you get from your NA lightweight beastie.

OH Schnele I completely missed your question... sorry!!!
OK basically it is a stock 993 engine with some mods. Of non stock there is: - Ti springs - Ti retainers - Ti RS Valves - 45mm ported heads - 3.9l P&C - Carrillo rods - DC 62 cams - RS pulley - GT3 oil pump (I think... we specced the motor in February) - Jenvey Induction - Motec ECU So all the rest of the components are stock 993 (case, crank, dist etc) I would be happy with 370-380 hp at the crank. I think we can spin it to 7,500-7,700 with no problem. And the DC-62 are just sweet up there... The capacity should give us enough torque to reach 375hp. If it is less it does not matter... I am still beyond the GT3RS power to weight ratio... :D |
Matteo
I am loving your updates. When do we get to see the pics of the painted shell?? |
amazing car and project! Definately subscribing!
|
Matteo, my geography sucks, did not realize the motor was not closer to you!! At any rate, can't wait to see the pics, your car is smoking!!
Contact me anytime about wheels, no rush at all. Cheers |

Finally I managed to take some pictures of the car as it is right now.
It looks like the buys at Zuffenhaus will be able to start working on it from tomorrow. Let's say they have been quite busy on another crazy project.... http://forums.pelicanparts.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=318580&perpage=20&pagen umber=1 So these are the pics... http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1165801650.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1165801672.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1165801692.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1165801715.jpg Hopefully more soon! |
As a guy building a Mexico Blue RSR Replica, all I can say is
DROOOOOOOOOOOOOLLLLLLLLLLL..... |
Looks really good Matteo :D
|
Now what do you think....
Browing on pelican I saw these... http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1165802021.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1165802035.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1165802053.jpg They look so cool that i started thinking that maybe I should go with center locks. Since this is a street/DE car it would only be for "look" reasons. My current wheels look quite good (here they are as I lent them to Keith for measuring purposes on their other project)... http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1165802277.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1165802288.jpg So the only other wheel that I'd consider having is the 917/RSR wheel. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1165802436.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1165802450.jpg So what do you think? Leaving aside any cost considerations which one would you go with? The Fuchs or the centerlock RSR? |
The Fuchs look better but the centerlock wheels really set it apart. For what its worth the CL wheels are ugly and have limited tire availability. Also only a true Porsche enthusiest will regognize the CL wheels for what they are. Personally I would leave the Fuchs. You can go wrong with perfection.

Make sure the CL rims will hold air.
Are these old magnesium rims? I think an aluminum replica is made, in Australia? Were you thinking of taking the car to Germany? If so would the CL pass inspection for use on road in Germany. Big project and looks great, thanks for sharing. |
Matteo,
Just keep the fuchs man.... Cost aside the fuchs look much better than the 917 style rim. I do love the center lock look but if you want that tough look of the black 917 style rims try painting your Fuchs the same color. If you do decide to go center lock, you can do that mod later on.... If you do decide to sell your 17" fuchs give me shout SmileWavy |
Since budget doesn't seem to be an issue here, why don't you just get some center lock Fuch's made?
|

I would have them made in 17" for tire avaliability. Road legality of the CL in Europe would be a factor... and I hadn't thought about it. |
They cost $4,000 each when new (and that was in 1970's dollars) and were the ultimate wheel at the time - lighter than the Fuchs even tho much bigger.
But I wouldn't bother if the copies are cast or are made of Al, not Mg. |
Hi Mike, i love the fuchs to death but Id go with the CL's to be different. there are lots of people running th 17 inch fuchs now and In my eyes because they are not a scaled enlarged fuch they can sometimes look a little awkward. here is a thread that is talking about the limited production of some replica fuchs that are scaled so are more true to the design of the fuch.
http://forums.pelicanparts.com/porsche-911-technical-forum/317452-17-cast-fuchs-knockoffs.html I'd still run with the CL's though. To be totally honest with you, I'd keep it real and run the fuch 15's and induldge myself in some of michelins finest TB15's which are readily available (and being produced all the time) in lots of sizes and at least three compounds now http://www.longstonetyres.co.uk/michelintb15.php |

These are the replica made by Kraftwerkz http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1165840055.jpg Check out their website.... http://www.kraftwerkz.net/ |

great info! Do you know if CL are street legal in the UK? |
TBs are also available at Coker Tire.
www.coker.com |
Go with the CL! Paul's 934 is plain bad ass and 345 pirellis are again available from tire rack
http://forums.pelicanparts.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=272963&highlight=center lock Ugly? Unrecognizable? Are you kidding... only the one of the greatest Porsche racing wheels ever. Matteo, i have been trying to contact Kraftwerk for last month by email to find out about their wheel for my up coming project without success. Do you have to call these guys or what. Who has those centerlock hubs? |
Ha! I have not been able to contact Krafwerkz either.
From the pick above it looks like they are modular alu wheels. I am quite sure that we could spec the offset and other dimensions. PM me for the hubs. |
fuchs for looks sake.
|
COME ON!
the fuch look has been done. (who doesn't have a 3.9L with 17' fuch's) the 917/935 (CL) wheel would be AMAZING, in any size, with anytire. Aside from being a much rarer look, I think it would be more suited to your car as well.... WALK THE UNTREADED TRAIL....go with the CL's |
http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1165862186.jpg
i meant to have this in the above post, but i really like these wheels also. |
Facey, where do those come from?
|
965 i believe.
fancy though eh? wider then they are tall....man is that ever cool. |
mike im not sure, ill do a bit of digging. (i'd run them anyway-the police over here are pretty cool about minor things like this)
|
Ya mean 956 or 962, right ? ... not 965 .....
