The car is a driver.... stone chips are a matter of time...
The hood and wings come from different cars... I noticed that too... I guess I will have to deal with it... The car is being shipped this Friday to England. It will be here on Sep 13. We'll have to deal with customs and then hopefully drive it home for the end of Semptember. |
actually, we're using a 965 front seal on the bumper - it has a flap for the fenders and the hood lays on top of it - I'll need to go check a 965 for confirmation. But, the hood and fenders are exactly the same length - we're psycho about lines around here.
Does that make sense about the seal? Any 965 owners want to chime in here, perhaps show us some pictures of the seal-to-hood-to-fender fit? |
the car rocks period - and I wish you folks knew what I great guy and family will be driving it. Keith, you and yours have pulled off a great build. I am sure there are always 'would of, could of and should of' when you do a project like this but this car from my perspective (just one guy talking here) is one of the best I've had the chance to check out.
congrats. Teo, good luck with those beurocrates over there. ;-) |
Stunning. Great work guys!!
|
I drove my 964 turbo (965 or whatever) into work today. What would you guys like me to look at?

Thanks Jmes.... The offer for a spin down the 'Ring is still valid! ;) |

check how the hood lines up with the front fenders and if the seal to the front bumper has any effect on it. Thanks! |
Will do. I'll post when I get home tonight.

So I have to say it, my upcoming IROC build is no doubt a 'Matteo Replica' more than a 74 RSR replica. Of course the word replica should be taken loosely - it'll never have the absolutely amazing specification of this car!
Suffice to say, this car has inspired me ( and I'm sure many others ) like nothing else - on this forum or elsewhere. Simply fantastic. Congratulations :-) |
Simply Beautiful Matteo! Keith, you guys do top notch work, no doubt! Good luck getting her imported! Here's to patience!
Again, it was great meeting you. You are certainly very worthy of such a car, IMO. Class act! Later, Mike |

Matteo,
My hood is pretty much even with the fender. The bumper smile / seal doesn't cause it to be off. Bill |
Thanks Bill, we'll see if we can adjust it a little more... if not I will have to live with it... ;)
Guys you make me blush... Mike it was great to meet you too and thanks again for the compliments. Craig H. my car is a replica of a lot of beautiful cars I have seen on this board. In all honesty there was no way I would have gone through this much without the inspiration I got from a lot of people on Pelican... So I am glad I have a little part in your dream. Thanks for the kind words! |
Man...that car is aching for a professional photographer. Any plans for a photo shoot?
|
Keith, here is the Swiss national champion RSR that was taken the same day as the Foyt IROC at RRII. They just tacked the hoods to the cookie cutters.

Once you have customs clearance you just need to MOT the car, then send the cert and fee plus customs note to the DVLA who wil make you legal. I think I mentioned somewhere that you'll need a rear fog lamp on that car if it still runs the Carrera 3.2 chassis number, I don't see it in those pictures yet, so get on the case with some wiring there Keith, unless you want some British bodyshop drilling holes in your baby! It need to be on the offside (right hand side) towards the outside line of the car. It can come off between tests if Teo wants to be naughty but only needs to be small - the little Bosch ones work OK. Do you need pics of what I am talking about? |
Matteo,
I looked a little more closely today, and can see how the seal may cause the hood to look maybe a quarter of an inch longer than the fender due to the seal that slips over teh fender. On one side om turbo it is barely noticable, but I can see on teh other that it may cause the hood to look like it is a hair longer. Hope that helps. Bill |

However, we've taken the liberty of installing and wiring (and testing) a fog lamp circuit (dash switch and all!) that terminates below the left taillight - it can certainly be extended to the right side if necessary... the old-style Porsche rear foglamp is coming with the car as well. |

'74 don't need no steenkin fog light ;) |
John
I am also importing the car as a personal effect witht the move. So no VAT (nothing on the Ford GT either phew!). I was told that I need to pass the SVA test before I can get registered with the DVLA. Is this correct? We are in a queue to get both the Cayenne and Ford GT tested (running with American plates right now). |
