I'm sure the twitch was more exhilarating than it looks on tape. What speed were you traveling? The soft stock bushings are definately not a plus for track driving.

I dont fit. I'm 6'4" 200 lbs and it just doesnt work. The pedals arent in the right place for my feet. The shifter isnt either. Maybe I'm just a freak, but they just dont work for me. Every 993 Ive sat in has been a chore. 996s, on the other hand, are a real car. I know its blasphemy on this forum, but if I could afford it, I would get a 99 996 over a 993 any day of the week. Its like getting 10 years of technology going from the 993 to the 996.

Flame away

Erm, I would have thought that was the whole point of the 993!

Mattr, no flame from me...Thanks for the input...I'm a big ugly (and old) fat guy...I may have, er, "fitment" problems in a 993. Size 13 shoes may not work on the pedals? Long (34" inseam) legs have problems? I'm 6'3", 245...(edit) Well, I may flame the 996 a bit. Again, strictly a taste & aesthetics thing. But no waterpumper Porsches for me...

Paul, you aint THAT ugly .....

Find one to try, you may be surprised. It does sit differently than my earlier cars, but I fit in it just fine. And after two years of ankle surgeries and crutches, I'm not as thin as I used to be.....

Yup, only one way to find out. For me, that'll be a drive north 100 miles or so, find a 993 I can try sitting in...

All that said, if I got a second 911, it would be a black 993 C2S coupe.
BTW Jack, I want you to know that I don't consider you among the "set" I'm thinking of dumping the longnose because of. You have proven you enthusiast status. Many times over. I think you know the types I speak of....the "players". I'd rather run my car through a crusher than sell it to one of them.

pwd72.....

i think you are being a bit harsh on us non- DIY, check-writers ;-0

I simply do not have the talent nor the time to pour into these cars.....I'm a composer and compose 80+ hours a week ......However I love Porsches.....so instead of screwing up my classics , I pay very reputable shops to treat my babies right........

Don't we ALL (diy'ers and check-writers) deserve respect for keeping these cars running healthy and on the road?

He's not talking about you or me, or anyone else who's posting on this thread. He's talking about really big checks.

And for you west coasters-check out the runoff room in many areas at the Glen-very small.

Just thought I'd put my 2 cents in. I absolutely love and adore the 993, especially with a fat ass. I'm not as tall as you Paul (5' 11") nor do I think I have as long of an inseam, but when I drove my friend's '98 C2S a few years ago, it fit just fine. Size 13 shoes be damned; mine fit pretty easily in the footwell. His car was a bit too "refined" for me though...but definitely something I would do for a daily driver.

I hope you're not thinking of selling one to get the other, though...
