MFI question
69 pump - posts on MFI adjustment proceedures seem to indicate that there is a gasket between cover and pump body at outside end of thermostat; is this so? is it available ? what thickness/material for making one? thanks

There IS a gasket-- no part number listed for it in PET, however. It's not rubber or cork, more like thick paper, but can't be more than about .10 mm thick. Unfortunately I don't have a micrometer, or I'd pull off my thermostat and measure.
The thickness of the gasket is critical to the correct warmup mixture.

John.
You are absolutely correct. That simple gasket partially determines the thermostat shut-off characteristics. There needs to be a standard for that. If nothing else, measure your existing (original?) gasket and make a new one the same thickness. The differences shouldn’t effect the fact that the thermostat shuts off, just when. The thicker – the later, but richer in the process. Err on the lean poor running side. Best, Grady

FYI - photos of the discs during clean up, thermostat housing pre and post cleaning - made a paper gasket for the end, can not hurt to try...

in case your pump needs new gaskets for the shutoff solenoid, or for the idle adjust plate... i used black sillicone (leftover from the PPengine rebuild chemicals kit) in that area, and it worked really well , just a bit difficult if you need to apply it with the pump mounted in the car...
