![]() In the future, a G64/21 or something even a bit shorter would really help this car. The power is all above 4500. The brakes are phenomenal. Handling is a bit soft. Probably do the M030/Bilstein thing for next spring. One thing I really notice is the slower steering compared to the STI. I'm going to investigate the rumor that a 964 rack has a shorter ratio. |

My only complains to my 993 are the puzzling gear ratios and the understeering.
The G50/21 is the best way to solve the 1st problem. And for the suspension there are a lot of alternatives. But all in all I love mine! Congratulations on your beautiful purchase. |

I hear larger rims and tires makes the understeer go away..
A friend with a 993 just got 10" fikse wheels with 285's in the back... understeer is now gone!

Uh-oh--there are a dozen pilgrims milling about in my driveway messing with the car cover. Something about a shroud. Where's that garden hose?

No. From a private seller in NJ. I drove a very nice, lower mileage 993 C4 at Holt's but in the end I just couldn't justify the price premium. There were some other issues as well. Holt's definitely has some fine hardware, though!

Is it me or has there been a rash of folks on this board converting to 993s lately?
Wayne, you best start expanding the 993 catalog

993 steering set up is already shorter than 964's at least in Europe. Don't know about 964 RS versus regular 964 though.
I think steering is definitely the area where you notice additional weight the most especially if your former ride was a classic. |

They are getting cheap enough that people with real jobs can now buy one. evenutally, the rest of us might be able to, also. They will always be more involved re repairs than an older 911.

the 964 has a slower rack and more rubber 18.48:1 in rhd, 2.81 turns lock to lock, 380mm steering wheel
the 993 is 16.48:1 w/ less rubber between the rack and tie rods, 2.47 turns lock to lock, 380mm steering wheel 993RS is 18.25:, 2.73 turns turns lock to lock, 360mm steering wheel there is also a non-power assisted 964RS rack that I can't find specs for, but i'm intrigued and will keep looking. During the transition from 964 to 993 they also changed the pressure curves on the pumps.
