The Final Countdown!!!
Well, in less than 48 hours Millie should be finished with her heart, lungs and kidneys transplant. I can't believe we are almost done. She is really taking shape. Just about everything we touched on the car was either rebuilt or replaced. Tomorrow will be THE big day when the we turn over the new engine and get her off the lift. We will also finish the oil lines, finish the rebuild of the hand throttle and the rest of the tunnel, install the rebuilt shifter, and make sure all nuts and bolts are tight. Saturday will be alignment and corner balancing.
Here are some pics from today: New tires mounted, balanced and waiting: Wiring complete with MSD: Front sway bar in: Bernie's handywork; new brake hardline: Muffler is on: The beginning of the custom oil lines: Starting installation of the stock oil lines:

Great work BTW!

Jorian, yes I will be at the track this year. Hope to see you there with those new seats.
Bill, I don't know why so many people are interested in that lift, but it is a Finkbeiner, and I don't believe they are made anymore.

Looks super Scott! You will have a week to break in the engine before XXX next Saturday. How come no dust cover on the front damper?
Man you are gonna have flames coming out of that muffler...

No deck lid shocks, sorry. Will be moving to "R" hinges when I get the new deck lid.
No dust cover front or back. The back is for a reason, the front is just to match.

Looking good. I know it's been a long road, and lots of work (way more than you ever suspected going in) but it will all seem worthwhile that first time you go wheeling out of Bernie's driveway. Looks like you might even have a nice day tomorrow for her shakedown run. Too bad I'm working; I would love to be there. If you find yourself out and about later in the afternoon, give me a hollar. I should be able to get out of here by 2:30-3:00.

Well, I don't want to steal Scooter's thunder, but I heard Millie run today. Remember the old Cayenne comercial, where the guy puts his phone on the ground and revs it for his buddy? That was Scooter this afternoon. He called me at work, with Millie running in the background. Very, very cool. I think she will be done tomorrow, but I'll let Scooter take it from here.

Millie is running!
![]() She started up like a champ. The jets were/are the incorrect size and she is running a little lean, but Bernie will fix that. The oil lines are all plumbed. Everything is tight and ready to go except for the throttle linkage, shifter and mounting of the oil lines. Tomorrow, the ride height, allignment and corner balance takes place. Custom oil lines: She's running: ![]() Two things that I am not sure about: ride height and rear wheels: ![]() 7s would look nice on the back or a fairly large spacer with the 6s. The tires look very small on the back. Still working on it. I'll get her out of the shop and see what she looks like.

She should be done, but I had to leave early yesterday, so I could not drive her home. We found a good/safe ride height, corner balanced and aligned her yesterday. She has a 1 degree rake back to front, weighed in at 2,171 lbs with a quarter tank of gas and the weight distribution was about 51/49. When I left, there were a few things left to complete, but she was looking good. Monday is the day!

Be careful here; Porsche engineers spents years optimizing the dampenering rate of those deck lid shocks. Have you ever tried to work on a car, in a rough driveway, where some hack has installed both a lighter deck lid and aftermarket deck lid shocks? It's downright dangerous; tools skitter across the driveway willy-nilly, seemingly without provocation.
