Pleasure meeting you Rey, (and driving behind your GT3). It was my first run with the boys also. Hope you can make a few more this summer as I hope to also.

first AutoX of the season
Anyone headed up to NER's AutoX school this weekend at Ft Devon?.
I finally chopped thru the ice in front of the garage door to get Roxie out of hibernation & I've signed up for Sundays event. Tendonitis in the right knee is still a bit tentative, making for a bit of a grimace when I jump on the brakes. I'm excited to get back on the course and thread thru some cones. ![]()

It was great to see a few longhoods at the AX School last weekend. For those of you interested in taking a look at some photos, here's a link: http://symphonypark.dyndns.org/NERPCAAutoX/NER%20PCA%20AutoX/Welcome.html The day was cold and miserable but I had a lot of fun jumping in and out of cars all day. For any of you who made it out, I'd appreciate any feedback on the highs/lows of your experience. It'll help us make the school better for future participants. PM me if you liked your comments taken in confidence. |

BTW, high marks to the NER SCCA autocrossers. if you want to be GOOD at autocrossing, do it with the SCCA...you will be as good as you can be. (there is the issue of them not having dozens of classes just for Porsches, but it's a question of choosing the size of your pond. Play in there's, and when you do a PCA event, you will kick ass.

Cuanlee,
I thought the day long event was very well planned and executed. Mother nature didn't cooperate but that didn't stop us from having fun. I like the way that three sessions in AM were set up. One session at the slalom course, one session at the braking section, and the last session on the skid pad. My personal favorite was the skidpad. Learning to steer with the throttle was truly enjoyable. Being able to get on the gas to "push" past a cone, and then lift off the gas to have the rear end come out and repoint the front end was definitely an "aha" moment. Something best learned on open tarmac rather than on a freeway exit ramp. The only thing I was disappointed with was the amount of time on the Autocross course after lunch. Because it started to drizzle at lunch, the afternoon session felt like I was in a completely different car. It took me three runs to finally find the correct effort on the brake pedal to keep from locking up. And I never could slow down enough on those 180 degree turns to get around quickly. I definitely would have done 2 more runs. All in all, I felt the instructors were good. They gave feedback where necessary and pushed me to explore the further limits of my car. I can't wait till the next event. ![]() Quote:

I'm a guy who nearly always goes quicker each run, but I was amazed at the SCCA Solo Nationals how some of the top guys would nail the first run, and only go as little 2 or 4/10ths faster over the next two runs. Solo II nationals are two courses, fast time of each totaled, 3 attempts per course) Until you got to know the guys and their habits, it was intimidating to assume they had 2 seconds more in them! Neater is nearly always faster in autocrossing.
