My easiest mod yet - "new" shift knob

OK, I know this is barely technical if at all, but doesn;t seem OT either.

A while back, I finally found a nice black leather AMCO knob with a crest on it. I had been looking for awhile, adn then.. BAM! found a "never used" one still in the box!

Took a few minutes between things tonight and put it on.

I just put that exact knob in my 930. I had to drill it out to accept the crush ring and fit the shift lever. I love it.

They do not make them anymore as far as I know. That is why it took me awhile to find one with the leather. You can find the wooden ones a lot easier, but even they are not plentiful either. I found this one on ebay and was lucky enough to win this one. I have been outbid on 3-4 others. Anyway, good for me, as this one ended up being new in the box.

Nothing abnormal or special about the grip really.

Used to be you could buy those for $4.95 out of most every PANO ad. And you paid????

I got mine for about $35 IIRC. Geeze, inflation!

That's the sad part, a $5 item that is no longer available is going anywhere from $30-$50 these days. But still, a Momo or any other quality knob will cost you twice that and this one has a "Porsche" look and feel to it.

Yeah, and I have seen these AMCO knobs go for even higher before... It is kind of weird no one makes anything similar anymore. Or maybe I just didn't look in the right place...

I almost bagged this AMCO recently though when I saw someone here selling a 930 knob With the leather stamped crest on top of the knob. That was hot!
