Scott mentioned that. My daughter has Down Syndrome, so perhaps in the near future, we'll be auctioning off "lunch with Wayne" and we'll go there in the 959, with all proceeds going to a Down Syndrome charity.

A couple of days have passed . . . and I STILL can't believe you have a frickin' 959!

I think I know this car somewhat, from when I spent the winter in the West side of LA a couple of summers ago. I hope you make this at least somewhat of a driver, take it out to events, etc., not worry about every little rock chip on it, fix it as things break or need fixing, etc.

Aren't the OE wheels the ones that need the Denlock tires? Are those even available anymore? Another good reason for another set of wheels and tires.

Anyways, can't wait to see and hear a lot more about it! Are you going to mostly be posting updates here on the 911 forum?

Great car!

I don't know. It's been smogged, and is CA legal, title will be in the mail soon. There are a bunch of loopholes I don't know about. Many people with kit cars seem to be able to find them when they have a new kit car that has been titled as a 1956 car...

The ABS system on your car was developed by WABCO. The company I work for has a JV with WABCO for braking systems on commercial vehicles in North American. I have worked closely with the hydraulic group in Hannover and have discussed their involvement in the program. The Test Engineer that worked on the program with the Porsche Engineers now lives in Portland, OR and I am sure he would be happy to talk with you about the brake system development program if you were interested. Also, I know the Development Engineer that worked on the program (he lives in Hannover) and I am sure he would be open to discuss the system with you.

Both are great guys and their English is near perfect (conversational and technical). I think they would enjoy speaking with someone who is interested in understanding the system that they worked on so many years ago! Send me a PM if you want their contact information.
Cool deal - I may take you up on that. It's going to be a multi-year project...

Great stuff. Keep the details coming.
I'll have to see how easy it would be to turn that into a PDF...

Anyway - the 959 pic - congratulations Wayne:

Neat pic, one of a kind, thanks for sharing!

Nope, I still have it, it's in front of the 959. I think I'm going to save it as a project to work on with my son(s) when they get older (oldest one is 3 now).

pffftt. ... back date it now, and slap on a duck-tail.

Seriously, great purchase. Pure engineering greatness.

Congratulations!!!

If you can't drive a Porsche everyday, you might as well do it right when you can .

It's got new tires on it - that's a bonus. I plan to use the car, I think we're going to take it to Willow on November 20th!

The sad part is that everyone now is going to want me to bring the 959 out to all of the events, I'm not sure when I'm going to get to drive the '72 RS clone (which is a LOT of fun to drive).

EDIT: Ooops, I sound like "woe is me", I guess that's not too bad of a problem to have! Now I wish I would just get well, I've had a 100+ fever on and off for the past five days (related to the purchase maybe?)

Just saw this thread...it occurred to me that I have never seen one in person

The black and white photo posted earlier captures the beauty of the car in ways the brochure did not. IMHO.

Stunning, really. All the best.

I'm glad to see the 959 will be on the road. My brother has a neighbor down the street that owns a 959, but it never leaves the garage.

Nice snag Wayne, how and when did the DOT finally give up on the crash testing requirement?

If wikepedia is correct, Bill Clinton made that possible with a signature.

The car sounds soooooo nice :-)

Wayne gave me a ride the other day. When the boost comes on -- wow! -- be ready to shift because it gains revs very quickly.
