Initially it will be all show and no go... stock 3.0 engine for now ($$ being the limiting factor for now...)...
Then I would like to have the engine (still kept NA) beefed up... and with a classic look (6 nice trumpets, carburetors or fuel injected, but with the carburetors look)

No go is a relative term. I'm sure it will be more than fun when you get it done. But the old Horsepower-itis will kick in at some point.

OK, wheels and tires installed. Now for the fun part: Body work!
![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() I also need to decide on the color. Initially I was going to paint it the same color the car has now with black Carrera script... but lately I have been thinking about 997GT3 RS Orange with black Carrera script...

Absolutely wonderful...the look of such gargantuan rear tires is the stuff of legends! You will be able to grip the world
![]() BTW what is the actual width of the tire shoulder to shoulder in inches?

As far ast he color, going with Continental Orange. So it will look similar to this one: ![]() Orange photos for 1974 RSR 3.0 Project Since I also got a sample of the 997 GT3RS Orange.... So it does not go to waste... I plan to take the rear spoiler, prep it, paint it Continental Orange, use the 997GT3 RS orange and paint a stripe in the middle... just to see how that looks. I will do this as a test... final paint job I will leave to the professionals.

I hope you're ready for that kind of attention! Its going to look absolutely breath taking in that shade. The Jeger cars were always my favorite.

Nice job with the tires...I tried to get 335/35/17 here in Aus but were not available so settled for 315/35/17 Sumi's, not sure I would have got away with 335's anyway under the standard turbo look rear guards. Will your rear wheels need spacers at all to fill in the gap or is it an optical illusion?
Dave.

I have been working on the 964 (renewing suspension parts and also replacing a few oil lines and aluminum crush seals). So no work/progress on this one.
I do take it out like that around the block just to keep the engine without issues... can't wait to start working on it again... Thank you for asking. It will be a several years project as I can only do it in the few free hours per week or month I get.

I've just read both chapters of this project and have to say its brilliant. Are there any major updates as I noticed the last post is October. You may also be able to answer a question thats bugging me, how come you can get the rear flares in 13", 14" and 15" does this relate to evolutions in period or just different manufacturers takes on the original?
Good luck with the build Darren |

Well, a quick update, after some soul searching I have decided to give it to a pro to finish the body work and paint... that way I have a chance to use the car before I am 80 years old
![]() Also, decided to go with Recaro Pole Position for the seats. I tried one yesterday and my butt fits.
