You think there's a possibility for a "weld your own/semi assembled" kit?
I.E. you sell the parts in a more easily shipped state, like the rear supports and diagonal as well as the foot plates not pre-welded so the entire "kit" can be shipped overseas/out of country in a flat box?

i would be interested in just the main hoop. all the other tubes are strait and can then be customized to the car. bending the main hoop is the part that requires a good bender, seems like a waste of money for just 4 bends.

Nice stuff, but as Tyson says, the 1 3/4" is going to be an issue, I think. If you look at the PCA regs, it would seem that 1 3/4 is what most are going to require. Maybe you should make the 1 1/2 portions the optional size?

either way, both will be offered. Keep in mind that a 2500lb 911 is a pretty easy thing to do... especially for a track car.

For an expandable-to-full cage system, 1.75x.120 is going to be unecessarily heavy.
Also, are you going to be able to compete with the $800.00 price point for a custom-built welded 911 roll bar already in the market? -just a couple of initial questions that came to mind... build quality looks great!

I'm not sure how to keep this thread "technical" and not advertise, while still offering info to people who are interested in purchasing. I haven't had a chance to officially weigh our bars yet (we've been really busy lately) but I will make it a point to do that tomorrow.
The TRE bar is great for what it is, but our bars serve a different purpose. We designed our bars to be stand-alone roll bar, but on top of that, they are the beginning of a complete, full race cage. There are plenty of bolt-in/removable roll bars available, but very few "expandable" bars that can support the needs of full cages. TRE claims a weight of 28lbs for their Club Sport 2 roll bar. Based on the measurements I used to make our bars, and some simple calculations based on DOM weights per foot, I would estimate the non-sunroof coupe roll bars to weigh in at 44.25 lbs (with 1.5 inch rear hoop supports). With 1.75 inch rear hoop supports, it should be about 45.25 lbs. These numbers should be pretty darn close to the actual weight. So what's the difference? Well it should be pretty obvious that our bars simply have more tubing. Our main hoops are designed to fit as close as possible to the roof line and b-pillars. This not only gives you increased visibility and head protection in the event of a roll-over/roof collapse, but it is part of the reason our bars are able to be turned into full cages. With the hoop so close fitting, the a-pillar bars can really hug the inner roof structure keeping the bars as far away from you head as possible. If you look at the TRE bars, you will notice that the top of the main hoop sits very low and back. This makes the bar easy to install in all kinds of chassis without the need for different designs for the different roof lines. However, like with all roll cage designs, everything is a compromise between streetability and racing safety. |

The low 40's for weight is what I have seen in three different bolt in 911 bars....
I like the look of yours and if they were ready one year ago I may well have bought one... Cheers

FIA standards aren't really used in the USA, but with the 1.75" rear hoop supports, it should meet the FIA standards when combined with an FIA approved front cage section. The black 930 seen in the pictures on the first page is being shipped over seas where FIA is more commonly used so we made the 1.75" substitution.
