I am running a Wong chip setup for SSI headers with a sport exhaust. I should also add that the GHL exhaust (2 in 1 out) is louder than the M&K by a fair margin. Great sound though.

Patrick,

Thank you so much for droping off your old but new too me Bursch CAT By-Pass and SW Chip. Can't wait to install them.

Already painted the pipe with BBQ paint, it looks brand new

So at the Track did you have this setup while you let me ride with you at Willow? Man you scared the poop out of me. As I recall she sound so sweet and the throttle feel was impressive.

Thanks again man and enjoy the Cab.

LOL,

Jim

P.S. I may need to meet SW at the dyno shop to fine tune her now

Draco: Don't get your hopes up about the chip. We all know the "self-annointed prophet from a place better than this" says it's all mumbo-jumbo.

Very, very nice!

Is it loud! Maybe, 1 being stock, 10 being megaphones.

Can you post the dyno charts in overlay of the three combos??

Please, please, please.

It looks like you entered the muffler on the top on the drivers side and the bottom on the passengers side.

This is different than how a Flow-master chambered muffler seems to work. Is this because it a dual straight through packed design?. Can not argue with success, seems interesting.

I have been told the packed type may have less noise???

Thank you.

BB, could you comment on if the GHL or M&K were ok to drive on the street...do they have a drone at a certain rpm at light throttle? Right now I just have the cat out and it is a bit noisier inside but not too much. I'm thinking the sound I'm going for is...too be not much more noise than I have now at cruzing throttle openings and then ok to be louder when I get on it. Since you have had both the GHL and M&K just wondered if you could comment along these lines. Thanks.

I only heard the M&K on the dyno because we swapped it out to see how well it would perform relative to the GHL. In the dyno room the GHL was noticable louder but still streetable. The GHL does not seem to drone and it REALLY gets loud around 5k rpm (a good loud :-). Overall my engine produced 237hp and that is with only SSI, GHL, and Wong chip upgrades, and a fresh rebuild.

I just installed a M&K muffler with a Steve Wong chip, I love the sound of the muffler (one in, one out) and the engine seems crisper and winds up faster. Who knows, but I think the combination of the muffler and chip is a nice improvement in the performance of the car.

I was there when Draco installed his bypass and chip. The sound betweeen stock and those megaphones... I would say around 2, or 3. Honestly, I didn't like the idea of complete straight pipe, base on past experience with other cars I had, but I was surprise that it sound a lot nicer than I expected. Maybe he can comment on the gain later.

Thanks, btw was there a difference between GHL and M&K dyno numbers? It sounds like you ended up going with GHL.

I have installed a cat bypass a couple of weeks ago. Did not seem any louder to me.

I was asking about how loud the headers & Dynomax was??

This build looks like it is basically two straight through backed mufflers built as on.

May be much quieter than the Flowmasters.

I wonder how the low end torque held up with the larger tube headers. Wish we could see the dyno chart???

Ask, and you shall receive!
OBX Headers & Dynomax 2 in 2 out Stainless Ultra Flow Muffler.
Definitely quieter than Flowmaster, and actually much better flowing.
Check out Steve's web site, www.911chips.com , and my dyno sheet should be posted there ('85 Carrera.)
Low end torque is improved.

Woo Hoo, I am a Speeding Ticket Magnet!

Installed the Bursch CBP and SW Chip, fine adjustments later, DEFINITE HP, TORQUE & Sweet Bass Sound from OEM Muffler.

HP & Torque Increase Through Out the RPMs and Gears. It is much quicker even though I had a Weltmeister Chip.

The higher 880-900 RPM Idle just make her run so Smooth via the 4K DME and SW Chip. Steve my compliments, a Real Fine Product.

Patrick again I can not thank you enough

BTW, sorry for the jack

I have a 3.2 85 Euro with a cat bypass and fatory Euro muffler. Could I use the OBX headers with the setup I have past the headers? I would also like to keep heat since I live in the Seattle area.

Thanks,

Scott

OBX Headers = NO HEAT!
You will need to have a muffler shop custom make pipes to attach the headers to the Euro Muffler (maybe $75?). You might be better served power wise by having an O2 sensor attached then get a custom chip mapped by SW!! Ask me how I know....
