How did you "hang" your Flowmaster muffler?

I have a dual-in, dual-out Flowmaster 80 series muffler that I need to mount. Anyone have pics of how they mounted theirs?

Funny, I just did this yesterday on my track car... I used the OEM bracket and bent it back. I used a piece of scrap Al to make a J and attached it to the two lower bolts that hold the engine to the rear cradle. I had to bend the OEM bracket to "straighten" the muffler up since I was concerned about the intake pipes touching the exhaust pipes. Using (4) 5"dia. hose clamps and there is no movement at all. I'm happy. Including pictures. It was my first time welding, and even thought the welds are not too pretty, they will hold. I bought the muffler (best price @ Amazon), (4) 90deg pipes and a u pipe to get the right angle needed for the connection from the headers up to the muffler intake (Summit racing). Total cost about $260 including, 02 bung, 2 hose clamps, gaskets and flanges. Had to buy a welder, but it was something that I always wanted to tackle... Borrowed a Sawzall for the cuts and a grinder for final shaping. I think it came up pretty good and it took about 5 hrs! Enjoy... Lou

I welded a plate on the back of the muffler with 2 holes towards the bottom. It mounts to the 2 lower case studs.

Bill, I believe those are the same headers that came with my car, who are they by? Any of you flowmaster guys have YouTube video? I'm interested in seeing what this sounds like. | ||

I (actually Scotty at the local muffler shop) used the same approach as most of the previous responses - a welded on bracket attached to the lower studs on the engine. I had replace the short studs with longer ones to mount the jackpad/towhook and there was enough meat left on the stud to mount the Flowmaster. It can be dropped without removing the rear valance.

So you guys are sending the exhaust into each side and out each side. Isn't one side of that muffler a dual inlet and the other side a dual outlet? How does that affect the sound and exhaust flow or is it a special cross-flow muffler. Can you post a part #. Thanks.

Excellent photo's. Len911, did you weigh that before mounting by chance?

Guys, thanks so much. Somehow I missed these responses. Lou, you might have inspired me to take a crack at welding this up myself. Did you eventually seam-weld the tubes after you tacked it?

Total weight was 24lbs 9oz versus my Supertrapps 14lbs 8 oz. So we are talking about 10# difference. Hopefully I'll get some more torque... Noticed my car was idling really rich after install. Sent for some smaller idle jets for the 46IDAs... Yes I did weld up all the seams and flanges, it is not going anywhere Lou
