Hose substitute; Anyone know what temp the SSI's get to
I have been tryng to find replacement for this piece.
http://www.pelicanparts.com/cgi-bin/smart/more_info.cgi?command=show_parts_image&Headers_Id=39477&Line_Item_Number=29 I want to use some hose that I found at a local aircraft parts department and the tubing is rated to 300 degrees F. Does anyone know if that would hold up or does anyone know how hot the SSI's get where this hose would connect? Last edited by redstormcoach; 02-09-2009 at 06:49 AM.. |

I assume he wants the piece under the car which is vulnerable to rocks, etc. The light weight factory stuff won't last long down there.

I used this in my heater backdate.
It's good for +300ºF AERODUCT CAT http://www.aircraftspruce.com/catalog/appages/cat.php This is what was previously mentioned. It's good for +550ºF AERODUCT SCAT http://www.aircraftspruce.com/catalog/appages/scat.php

The piece I got today is similar to Aeroduct CEET. Its rated to 300 degrees. I just dont know if that will hold up. Does anybody know if the area where these hoses attach to the SSI's heat up to more than 300 degrees.

It only directs cool air from the fan housing into the heat exchanger, so I doubt it ever gets too hot to touch even with the engine running.
