Broken rear sway bar mount. OK to drive with sway bar removed for a few days?
One of my brackets has broken. I will be ordering WEVO brackets (2), bushings and drop links. I plan on removing the sway bar and grinding off the old brackets. Is is OK to drive the car for a few days in the meantime until the WEVO's arrive and I can find a shop to weld them on for me? It aint doin much good broke!
Yet another delay in my pending engine swap and clutch replacement project. First is was new tires, then a leak in the gas tank, then a front wheel bearing and now this. ![]()

Lets the car roll more and makes the rear stick and the front plow if pushed.

I got a much smoother ride with mine off, I drove it for a few months that way before I out on the Wevo mounts, you will notice a difference, just use caution on those 80MPh exit ramps.

Not a problem. Just be aware of it and take it easy until repaired.

I think it happened yesterday. I went over this big speed bump to get into a parking lot over looking garden of the gods here in colorado springs. I approached it at an angle so I would not hit my front end as much. When I left, I noticed a bad metal to metal sound and my heart sank. I got out and put my head in front of the rear wheel and saw the sway bar mount had torn. It looked like a fresh wound. I think I'm going to go to DART auto up in denver and have them fix it for me. I'm no welder, that's for sure. I took a pic of the garden of the gods yesterday w/ my phone. Not great, but you get the idea.......

It is ok to drive if you take it real easy. I almost had the right two tires off the ground going around a tight 270 degree turn exiting the airport. Mike the mechanic welded my Wevo RARBs on. He works with Ryland just south of the runway at Dobbins.

Tie wrap the loose link/rod up in such way it doesn't hang there or gets stuck by the movement of the arm, or even better disconnect the other end also until fixed. Meanwhile the car will "roll" like a mtf.

Oh man, that is why we roll lightly over bumps like the lowered kids.
Well in anycase, that is an awsome picture.

What did they charge? I need to get this done and was quoted $270 by Franz Blam to weld 2 Wevo RARBs.

Ryland's charged $356 to replace factory mounts with Wevo mounts and install rear Bilstein Shocks. They needed to do a little extra welding to repair some holes in the tub made by trying to repair one of the broken mounts in the past.

Mark. I got a welding buddy who owns a muffler shop down on the south side if you get the new brackets. He welded a crack in one of mine.
And you can bring my tools with ya. LOL

Dealer quotes 5 hours to do the job. I had mine replaced by a friend who runs a hotrod shop. It took him about 5 hours to do both.
Grinding off old parts and welding in new. It makes a helluva difference in handling.

The left side rear sb mounting holes got stripped about 1 year ago. I noticed this when installing wm swaybars. I never got around to fixing this eventhough a pair of wevo mounts are still sitting on my workbench. Street driving seems ok. In fact I put about 6,000 miles on my car this year. I would not drive the car on track though.

OK...pulling my hair out..can't find this part on Pelican! I'm pretty good finding parts on this site but this has me stumped and I'm throwing in the towel and asking for help.
Thanks,
