911 Turbo prototype ~ Circa 1973

Just had to share when I saw this...

I do like the white stripe and Porsche sticker on the side.

The white wheel centres with the fully polished lips look spectacular!!!

Note the rear view mirror on the door. It looks body coloured...

The rear wheel arch bulge looks very close to the production Turbo but the fronts look like ST bulges...

I wonder were it is now?

Apologies for the quality but this is a scan from a magazine. ("Total 911")

Kind of looks like an IROC....not about the tail though.

That stripe is unique... I've seen the multi coloured Martini Turbo version but never in a solid colour like that. It would be almost easy to reproduce.

It spent the last 12 years in Brisbane, Australia with Rob Sherrard until being sold to a US buyer late last year. I've got some other photos of it if you want?

Was this the car that had the wooden engine when they displayed it at the Paris Motor car show?

Thanks... It's interesting the head light rings are chrome in the thread but in the picture I posted they are body colour. Also not the change in the mirrors.

That white stripe is awesome! Some one should use this on their RSR replica.

That stripe was an option on the 930 until about 1984.

MFI turbo is a very cool thing - too bad they never made any 930's with MFI for the street...

Where does the pressurized air enter the intakes?

the top of the stacks but the prototype did not have a turbo engine I believe it was a 2.8 MFI engine if memory serves

That is NOT a turbo.
Look at the trottle boddies and the exhaust.

OK - that makes sense - it didn't look turbocharged. Were any of the turbo 917's MFI? I know the n/a ones were...

without looking at the posted thread above (because i'm lazy) I remember reading about this car and I think it does not nor did it have a turbo motor when built. I think the someone above posted and said something about a wooden motor. I believe it had a fake motor. I've got some articles on this car as well.

Those are 2 different cars. RHD vs LHD. I think the one in your picture is an RS 3.0.
