Walt is great - one of the true gems in the Porsche community! Along with you two.

I saw that. It's a cool story about the history of club racing. A number of Colorado locals got their props.

And Walt was one of the key people in making that track happen. It's such a wonderful track and everyone here in Colorado, Porsche people and others, are very grateful to the work that he and his wife Kathy put in to making it happen on our behalf.

Walt came through again for me at the club race this year. Took parts off of his car so I could put them on my car. Quite a guy.

I don't know Walt but I saw the photo. He sure looks like the nice guy he seems to be in his posts. Now, the question is...is it pronounced "Frick-e" kinda like Porsche, or "Frick" like "Porsh"?

I just looked through my photos to find some of Walt. None yet but lots of other fun shots.
Almost everyone in that picture was one of my students.

Club Racing started out of the necessity of putting a cap (or official sanction) on our (and other Regions) using PCA Driver’s Schools as our race venue. ‘Das Schwartz Grouppe’ was just like a Club Race. Nose-to-tail racing.

I’ll post some images after I cure my scanner’s snit.

Best,
Grady

It is Frick-e.

Friends:

Walt and Kathy are great people and headed up the 2009 Parade. The 1992 club race photo in Pano took me back. I'm in the red 911 on the right side of the photo, pretty well back, and my pal Pat Moyle is in the orange 914/6 just ahead of me. His wife Anita was the key to making the first club race work. When she passed on a few years later, he sprinkled her ashes around that track! The jerk in the white 914/6 blocked me later, and it was tough to stay cool. I think Pat and I finished in that order. He was an experienced SCCA racer and taught me a lot about racecraft (how to drive off the line, which I'd never done before). Had fun with Walt and Kathy at High Plains Raceway a month ago.

This is the start of the first race at the very first CR in '92 at Second Creek (RIP), Colorado. I'm in my daily driver #33, following Jerry Schouten in his 2.7RS into turn #1 right after the green flag flew. The white cab is one Kevin Buckler. I jumped him at the start something fierce. He asked me how I did it. The answer - right foot on gas, left foot on brake, waiting for the starter to twitch. The orange 914-6 is Pat Moyle. Frank Barrett should be back there too, along with his nemisis from New Mexico. The brownish 944 is also a New Mexico car. Monte Smith has to be there also. Starter Kent Early went on to race himself, but was back at his old job when he started our 2009 CR at out new High Plains Raceway.

I never could get by Jerry, but kept ahead of Kevin. Last time that could ever happen. Jerry and I had a significant home track advantage. Note it is possible to run 9" cantilever slicks on an SC.

#33 is now the backup car to #99, which is a bit faster. Same 9" cantilever slicks in the front, though. When you own 18 7x15 rims you don't change quickly.

Regards

Walt
