side marker delete = fast turn signals

Hi All,

After deleting my side markers, my turn signals flash fast, as the relay thinks a bulb is blown.

Is there any solution for this other than adding resistors into the system?

Thanks,
Adam

Not that I know of, I would just add resistors and be done with it.

Or an electronic flasher. There's just not enough electrical load to flash at the correct speed. The same thing happens with LED lights.

my turn signals flash fast all the time, too. I've never had side marker lights.
I just thought that's the way this car was made. Or do I need to fix something , too? All the bulbs are good.

The problem is you guys have the Japanese-type flasher and you need the ROW type flasher installed. The Japan flashers are real popular with the tuner crowd and they go for a premium so don't throw them out (can't remember the p/n). Just make sure that you ask for the ROW type flasher when ordering.

i've got an electronic flasher that is designed for LEDs, but its max load is 20A.

So i'm thinking it would burn out with normal bulbs.

I have R lights, so i think each of those indicators are 8A. I think the front turn signals are 10A each.

10A is quite a lot. What's the fuse for that cct?

sorry... i realised i meant watts, not amps.

So amps = wattage/ voltage

i know the rear R light bulbs are 18W each. I vaguely remember the front bulbs being 21W. Need to check that.

But if that's the case, my setup will draw only 6.5amps. I'll have to check this, but sounds promising =D

Try increasing wattage of both front and rear to compensate for the side marker delete.

You might want to watch the plastic inside and outside the light housing if you increase the wattage. More watts = more heat = melted plastic.

I doubt turn signals will stay illuminated long enough to build up enough heat to melt plastic.

Those with the fast-flasher problem need to change your flasher relay:

Electronic LED Blinker Flasher Relay Fix Turn Signal - eBay (item 220723739927 end time Feb-10-11 07:56:28 PST)

Note: This relay might not be the correct piece for your application. You need to see which relay replaces your existing relay.
