(Lots of) Pics of my car (the '69). Also MSD install and "deep" Fuchs
Hi all.
For your (my own???) edification, I have attached a few pictures of my "new" car - a 1969 911T. I apologise for not taking them on a real nice day or having the decency to clean the car first. It has done about 240k kilometres, has new (but average) paint and a mostly redone (but average) interior. Most redeeming feature was it was cheap and has track suspension. The engine is a 2.0T with E cams and its days are numbered as I have agreed to buy a 3.0RS spec motor early next year. I have also attached pictures of my MSD install (a few people have expressed interest) and a closeup of the "deep" Fuchs. I have much higher res pcitures if that is useful for anyone. ![]() ![]() Fan is a disgrace. I will rectify that (I need the fan for the 3.0). ![]() Interior - semi-antique Nardi steering wheel is cool. ![]() MSD install mounted sideways for maximum pimp value where the old CD box was. I moved the voltage regulator to the firewall (see the second photo) and also mounted the MSD tach adaptor there. I had to move one of the relays too, and generally it is all a tight fit. Also very pimpy is the MSD chrome coil mount. That is a destickered MSD high vibration coil (it is plain black underneath). ![]() I guess these are "deep" Fuchs as the ones on my '75 are different. These ones visually have the spokes a long way out.

It does handle well, albeit a bit choppy and bouncy. I think the shocks need attention. And it is LOW. I don't know enough about 911 suspension yet, but I will learn .

Cam, I love the car! Very stylish. I like the look of the non S type front skirt/spoiler. Nice and sleek.

That top profile shot reminds me why I love the 911. Classic, clean and pure. I am putting an MSD into my pick-em-up tomorrow as an experiment before messing with my babies. Curious about your results performance wise.

My results with the MSD? I had a night and day change, but as I have bored everyone with before, I have a marelli distributor and had a non-functioning CD box (ie, just points and a coil). Oh, and 2 intermittent Berus. It ran like crap. In fact, it was worse.

on MSD install...where did the other relay go? since I have Magnetic pickup, I need to use the large box 8920 tach adapt which will have to be installed to the left because of its size. did you have to splice many wires to extend them. Also tip..check your engine at night while running for arching...they are known to do this on low tower coils. I will be using a Blaster 3 to avoid this. thanx

. I am too busy AND too lazy AND keep taking on other projects (my best friend and I have decided to learn how engines work by rebuilding his Lotus TwinCam. We have pulled it apart (easy), now the hard part starts).82sctarga - The MSD install was pretty easy. I wired it as follows: +12v wired to one of the fuses you can see in the pic above (it was unused) ground wired to factory ground off behind my fuel pump out of picture switched 12v to the connection the coil was hooked up to (remember I was points and a coil) other connections to coil and distributor directly. Tach adaptor is spliced onto the white wire together with the tach wire and the swicthed 12v wire (from memory). I was able to move the voltage regulator by undoing the factory loom - the wires already run back to another relay panel behind the engine so that was easy. I installed the MSD with the 4 pin plug in the picture (white plug) so I can remove it more quickly. I still need to undo the +12v and ground if I want to take it out though. I moved the relay back two inches beside the fuses. Looking at the pictures again the installation looks generally kind of half-arsed but in person to my (highly) biased eyes it actually looks pretty stock and much better than it started out. I do get a (very) minor amount of arcing from the coil output to the coil input (negative side, I think???). I emailed MSD about it and they said it was acceptable.

My car is about an inch too high and it looks terrible that way. I have to do something about that.

now that I am thining about it, you can just see what a 911 too high looks like.
Cam...are these the deep dish fuchs too? they are 15 x 6.

Reg- half the reason Cam was so smitten with this car was that it was so freekin' low. It looks mean as hell in the flesh; kind of sinister yet old and classic.
I saw the PO driving it around a local road a couple of months before Cam purchased it, and I couldn't stop staring. That thing didn't deserve to be on a public road! It was even lower then than it is now- the tyres have been changed to a higher profile in the interests of actually being able to get up driveways properly.... I know there is a body of thought out there that says not to dump these things too much, but Cam's car really does handle nicely. Very edgy, light and responsive....wonderfully nervous but rewarding at the same time. Plus it comes up to about your waist when you stand next to it. The big horsepower 3.0RSR transplant is in my opinion absolutely irresponsible, excessive and way out of control. Can't wait though!

Cam, Dare to be different! Don't flare your fenders! A tip...all you need to measure sway bar size is a set of metric "spanners". Calipers might be best for torsion bars, though. Don't know how you'd measure them without removing them, either... Very clean looking car, and I love the color combination!

Matt is absolutely correct. Notwithstanding the change in the handling in the last week (see another post) it does handle very well and being so low it looks kewl.
The tyres have never rubbed on anything, but I only have 195/60R15s and solid rotors (gives a few mm clearance) and the front has heaps of camber. It still wouldn't rub without the camber though - there is heaps of room. I am not sure if 195/65R15 would be ok (correct size for speedo) and I doubt 205 would fit. They would at the front and might at the rear. It used to have 205/50R15 at the rear but these were small. If you rolled the arches and ran a couple of degrees negative camber it would be easy though. I will find out because I think the 195s are not going to be acceptable for a 250hp 3.0 and will change to either 205/50 on 16x6s or 16x7s. Phew, more $$$$. I can't tell if yours are deep fuchs or not Reg. I will study the differences between my cars and report back.

That's exactly the way to do it- low and narrow. I love it! By the way, you can put 215's on a narrow body (well, '73 narrow- I don't know about earlier cars). I had to roll the rear fenders, but they fit!
Beautiful ride, what is the color? Is it just black, because it looks almost like a super dark blue/green.
