Wolfe...........over the years, I have ignored John's advice two times. It was a mistake both times. He's been working on these cars exclusively for something like 30 years, and has forgotten more about them that I will ever know. He's giving you advice that will save you money and aggravation. I'm just sayin'.........

So, can I get half credit since I knew something about diodes and rectifying the alternator's alternating voltage current output?

The DME isn't going to like the input voltage it sees either. Some of the spikes may exceed the voltage ratings of the parts in the box and let the magic smoke out.

denied

there are 6 diodes, 3 pairs, 1 pair for each of the 3 phases. you get the smiley above and an E for effort. there are some nice parting gifts for those that did not win.

And no half credits for your signature line either: 911S Drehen Kurven Üebersteuern

There is no need for the e after the Ü if you are using a character with the umlauts.

oops, I forgot to take that out when I was editing the sig. Finally found how to type the umlauts. I'll fix that. Thanks.

I know the words do not form a coherent thought but I thought it looked a little better to eyes in the USA than alternatives.

Are you sure? My 88 has 14 rectifier diodes.

17 if you count the module for the regulator. inside the regulator ????
