Installing an Optima red top in an '82 930
Well, I bought the battery. Called up Optima and asked for the DIN adapters. They said that they don't make the DIN adapters any more and Porsches are not an approved application for Optima batteries. What the heck is up with that?
I was thinking about cutting the bottom off of the original battery and try carving the ends to fit the Optima. Any other options. I really don't want to kulge this car up. |

Great job on selecting Optima. Can't say enough about these batteries.
You need to find a battery mount kit which holds your Optima to a base plate. That plate then mounts to the lip and the hold down clamp.

Do a thread search on Optima, and you will find many examples of how folks have created mounting solutions for these batteries.

Our host sells a tray ( a beauty ) all cad plated etc., you bolt your
Optima to it and with the tray on the bottom of the battery, it fastens right into your 911. Sweet.

Think Rennline makes one that bolts up to the bottom of the redtop.

The plastic cutting board solution works very well and is cheap and easy.

Our host has one that will work with your 82. It will work from 74 thru 89.
I have one in my 74 and it is a beauty. The PP part number is OPT-883034 Type that number in the search box at PP and it will come up. $33 or there-about.
