RSR Fuchs, good/bad news for Ted

Ted sold me a car 18 years ago and claimed the wheels were very valuable. At the time all I knew was that if he was going to sell his car I wanted first crack at it and so it came into my possession after a fair amount of pestering and brow beating. All this time I was not really sure whether they were real or not but did kinda notice that a few people were pretty interested in them.

The car doesn't get out as much as it should but folks often comment. After searching a bit on the PP site I decided to look into them a bit more and I'm thinking these are real deal but don't want to be too optimistic.


I punched the apparent part no. into the PP search but got nothing. Are these authentic?

ps Ted doesn't want to know either way at this point.

Thanks Joe, looks like there's still a bit of meat left on the carcass for now. And there's another pair after that. Plus the car is a lot lighter than my '91 and doesn't put near the wear on rubber. (It probably needs to be driven more.)

I went to a swap meet at Sunset once and had to keep my car in sight the whole time after a couple guys offered to help me remove them in trade for something "better" they had before I even got out of the driver's seat. Musta thought I just fell off the turnip truck.

For the right application they are hard to substitute. Anyone know how many sets of these were made? I have noticed that they do show up from time to time and their value appears predictable.

My comment was in jest only. I would have a very nice set of wheel locks on those things expecially if matched with 9's up front.

It would eat me apart to leave the car sitting somewhere with them on...honestly.

yeah, ShakinJoe, I was just kidding too. the wheel locks are always in place. the car does not sit out much unattended. and you are right, it's something you think about when you park for sure.

JB, yes, now that you mention it, it does look like a fox. Holy schnikee, now someone is going to tell me that Fuchs means fox in German?

How do you decipher the other markings?

sold a 72 gulf blue 911 e that had real rsr flares with fuchs 9s on the rear once upon a time. my first and still most cherished porsche..went to denver col area in 1992 i believe. even replaced the RS spec engine with a 3.2 ..used the updated 2.4 as trade...even had MFI....i had an R gruppe type car and did not even know it!!! ill bet lots of us have been there before???

Looks like a fox to me. You learn something every day. I guess these wheels deserve a proper cleaning.

would it be possible to get some measurements?

I need the backspace measurement and a check on the the overall width which should be should be 11.7" or 296mm

Sure just cut a short piece of stiff wood or metal to lay across the lip w/o hitting the tire, measure, try not to deflect the wood during the process. I used 2 here held together w/ rubber bands because I also wanted to measure the overall width. For the back space the perpendicular distance from wood to mounting face, for overall the perpendicular distance between the 2 pieces of wood as a check I do the front space too or if there is only 1 piece of wood. front space is the perpendicular distance from the wood across the front lips to the mounting face


Every Fuch I have ever seen measures ~.7" more overall than the bead width, so the 11's should be 11.7" overall

yes, it does, it's just about right on 11 3/4". I checked it a couple of times.
