Yeah, you can use the extra $4K for an attorney when your Motormeister special blows up on the shakedown drive.

Just had a top end done, already have turbo tie rods, pop off, chain tensioners, SSI's & M&K, Rennshift with Wevo coupler. I only plan to drive the car on the street mainly with a DE or track day every once in a while.
My intial thoughts were - refresh stock suspension, new brakes F&R (I'd like to do drilled rotors but I heard they're not all that), new seats, RS door panels, RS carpet, Rota RSR finish (or a set of RSR finished 16's), New seats (Cobra RS's or Nurbs).
Anything else?

Given what I can read between the lines on your use of the car, I'd do the following:

Buy Buckterrier's sport seats...they are flawless: Sport seats for sale Probally get them got $1700 including shipping,

Appbiz LEATHER RSA door panels...c. $400

Appbiz carpet kit w/rear seat delete...c. $300

Fresh set of HD Bilsteins all the way around. I know of some NIB you could get from a fellow pelican for $350 shipped. (Saves you about $150).

I'd freshen the front bushings and sway bar bushings with OEM replacements as needed. $300 ish?

Alignment and corner weighted $300-ish

Seine shifter mod...$150.

Rota Fox RSR wheeels...opens up much more in the way of tire selection...$1300.

Decent set of tires....$650 ish

$5250 total.

Sock away the remaining $4750 for DE's and gas.

I would save myself the trouble, sell it and get a 996. If you've driven one (996), you know what I mean.

Cheers,

Joe

Rebuilt ZF 915 Limited Slip Diff . $1800

Shocks and Bushings. $1200

17" Wheels , used Fikse, or CCW , etc. $1500

New Tires $600

RSA Door panels $300

Race seats $500 each ( you could just do one)

7:31 Ring/Pinion or Swap appropriate shorter gears into your transmission $1800

TBITZ EFI conversion $1800

$9500 in parts . $500 left over for an alignment and a track day.

I would not mess with the actual guts of the engine if you are trying to get value for money.

Really I would say, sell the SC and buy a 964 at $20k.

Thumbs up Three steps to enjoyment

First, make it stop correctly! Second, make it handle better! Third, make it go faster! Then check you pockets for any change from the $10,000; and then drive it until the wheels fall off the car!

Wow! That's quite alot of diversity: anywhere from sell my car to a complete overhaul.
I think I'll go the stock brakes, suspension refresh/upgrade, wheels tires and hopefully seats. I really think a school or some sort of track instruction would be the best spent money.
I really like my SC so I'm not selling it...........yet

I say sell the SC, take that money plus the 10K and buy someone elses DE/street car or project. You will end up with a better car with many of the popular mods for less money. There are ton of these street legal track cars out there and the prices keep sliding south.

Except, I would buy a 996 instead. It's the factory version of someone elses DE/street car with all the best mods for a fraction of the money and a street legal track car to boot.

Why do you think it's a fraction of the money? Why do you think a 993 commands a premium over a 996?

Take a look at Craigslist. It seems to be a supply/demand issue if you compare the prices of a 98 993 compared to a 99 996.

Buy a nice mid-year (78-85) Formula Ford and cut 5 to 15 seconds off your lap times. Wheel to wheel racing beats DEs hands down.
