If you had $10K to spend on your SC you would?
I may be coming upon some money in the next few weeks to spend on my SC and was wondering what you all would do if you were me (maybe?)?
Just had a top end done, already have turbo tie rods, pop off, chain tensioners, SSI's & M&K, Rennshift with Wevo coupler. I only plan to drive the car on the street mainly with a DE or track day every once in a while. My intial thoughts were - refresh stock suspension, new brakes F&R (I'd like to do drilled rotors but I heard they're not all that), new seats, RS door panels, RS carpet, Rota RSR finish (or a set of RSR finished 16's), New seats (Cobra RS's or Nurbs). Anything else?

Why don't you post some pixs of your car, then I bet we could help you spend your money in a hurry. Since you just had a top completed on your engine then we can assume your clutch and transaxle are in good shape?

Suspension would be the first thing - some stiffer torsion bars first, then some good shock absorbers. Not too stiff on the t-bars IMO. 22/28 worked for me, with Bilstien heavy duty shocks...I left my sway bars stock. I had zero complaints with this setup on both street and track. Of course Neatrix bushings in the back and geez the elephant poly bronze in front were sweet.
If you're writing a cheque to get all this done then you may not have a lot of change left out of your $10K. If you do some or all of this yourself then you'll have money left over for....brakes. I hear the Boxster brakes work ok...I also understand that 930 brakes are *really* good. This will take car of the rest of your cash.... Drilled rotors alone won't do anything for you...look good maybe. A good seat is worth the effort. I'd stick to Fuchs for wheels if you're upgrading those. Very few aftermarket wheels look right on a vintage 911 (again just my opinion). Post some pics dude.

If I read your post correctly you want your car set up for the street and a couple of DE's a year, and or a "track day once in a while". If that's the case you're spending a lot of money on suspension and giving up some ride comfort for 2 or 3 track days. I would put in some time at the track, then see how far you want to go with the suspension. Yes on the brakes, you can't go wrong there...

If you are so happy with the car that you have to ask.
Spend the 10k on gas and tracktime, enjoy what you have. Regarding brakes most important update is airducts, after having that installed there is rarely need for more updates on brakes.

I would put in new 28/22 hollow torsions with a full ER polybronze/monoball setup. Stock brakes are more than adequate, drilled rotors are crap, stick with stock Porsche rotors and pads for a 95% street car (and I would only do better pads for the track, still use stock calipers/rotors). If changing seats possibly add a bolt in roll bar to allow use of a 5-6 point harness when on the track. Only issue is you need to do both seats equally if a student to run in PCA DE's..

Echoing what some have said, sell your car, add 10K and buy something much nicer. For low 20s, there are a lot of very well-prep'd cars out there. Should be able to buy a car whose owner has about 60K into it (30 cents on the dollar return). Of course, I didn't take that advice, either, so...

Fortunately, my car is in pretty good shape so I don't think I could make a case for spending that much money on it. (Ask me in a year to see if this still holds true.) I might want to put shocks and suspension bushings on it, and upgrade the A/C, but I doubt this would burn through a $10,000 bill.

With a fresh top end, you've got a good, known quantity. I say ditch the CIS for a modern fuel injection setup. ITBs, Carrera 3.2 intake with aftermarket ECU, or 3.6 intake over ITBs. Many possibilities.

if it were me, i would upgrade to a modern EFI system, and custom make a turbo kit for it, maybe even use the exhaust portion from a 930...... Or maybe you would be better off selling your motor, and buy a used 930 setup.

I would rebuilt the engine and tranmission at motormeister in LA. You would only spend about 6K and have the remaining 4k for other things.

You can't JUST put a 3.6 in it. If you do, your last conscious thought will be (just before you hit something) ".... oh crap... I should have upgraded the brakes too!!"
Having said that, I'd upgrade the brakes, followed by a suspension refresh as mentioned above, followed by seats, maybe a harness bar and 5 point harnesses. Then after ALL that, the car will be ready for a power upgrade if you ever decide to go that route. JB
