Reaper: Not sure by what you meant? I get the part that you finished your car by yourself- what is no longer true?

Sorry forgot to bold the line "and they are doing excellent work at the moment for at least one Pelican on the Turbo forum".

Sometimes fate or destiny leads one in a different direction.

That is what happened to me....

I was able to purchase a nice pair of real 9x15 Fuchs off of eBay recently.
A week later purchased a very good pair of real 8x15 Fuchs again on eBay.
I quick trip to my locate P shop (Rothsport) and I see they have a new set of Michelin TB15's for sale that will fit the RSR 9x15 and 11x15 Fuchs.
Now all I have to do is get one more pair of 8x15 Fuchs and send all four down to Harvey Weidmann to be transformed into a pair of 11x15's.
Harvey will also likely apply an RSR "look" finish to all the wheels.

I will end up with the old school look for my 73 RSR looking hot rod.

Guess I was tired of waiting for someone to chime in with some good news on delivery schedules for the Zuffenhaus wheels.
I have a hard time buying into what looks to be a +1 year delivery on these wheels.

Speaking of Harvey Weidmann, we sent a set of wheels to be restored in May, he looked them over, told us what it was going to cost and said that it would be 3 months before he could get to them.. We went ahead (unsolicited) sent a check for the full amount. He called raising hell that the wheels wouldn't done any faster (we had no problem with the time line, just figured he would be happy if he was aready paid, boy were we wrong) and we still don't have the wheels..

Most reputable businesses don't require full payment if there is going to be a long lead time for products at most they would require a good faith deposit that is applied either to the purchase or refunded if the order is cancelled. Pelican, Summitracing, Bitzracing, Clewett, and Oklahoma Foreign were all that way.

If I could order a set of them and receive them in two weeks of so I would order today. I just can't see paying thousands of dollars and not getting my wheels for about a year.

They will receive my order when they can ship something from stock.

the FTC mandates that every 30 days of delay requires customer contact for continued consent to that delay. Not to mention it's just common courtesy.

All this delay talk has me wondering what a nice set of 8's and 9's is worth used. Hmmmm.

I would guess prices might increase if other wheel options decrease.

It's not my place to interpret what others are saying, but I suspect Reaper was probably bending over backward not to be negatve about Zuffenhaus. Sometimes it's more important to be a gentleman than to get into a mudslinging contest.

I was just jokingly wondering what my Jeff Alton 17x8 & 9 Fuchs would be worth.... no waiting. Of course my challenge would be the fact that the centers are powder coated red.

The 17" Zuffenhaus wheels are worth the wait - IMHO - But what is up with this lack of a sense of urgency? I was one of the initial guys like Ed and Ed Hughes - I ordered two sets and waited and waited... Seriously it seems to be rampant in the porsche community.

Byron mentions Harvey - I heard Harvey has a 4 month wait to get wheels refinished. I waited over 90 days for Al Reed (yes, is wife was sick, and yes, I was understanding) Jim at Tru Design was pretty quick with my other set of wheels - so I guess I can not complain.

But now I am waiting on SPARCO. I ordered and paid for a set of seat inserts for a set of Evo2s I picked up - IN OCTOBER. Still don't have a ship date - Sparco can not give me an answer on when they will be produced, shipped (although they took my money pretty quickly) My friend Chis is waiting for his car at a local shop - they are probably three MONTHS past their initial dual date.... I know there is a price for perfection (and apparently a long waiting period) - but seriously wtf?

(One) moral of the story: don't order a set of Zuffenhaus Fuchs and sell your current wheels in the meantime.

FWIW, I love my wheels. I appreciate the fact that for once a guy (Jeff Alton) wanted to make a product and make it right. High quality was the prime consideration--not rushing something to market before it was done properly. Thanks.

So what advice can you give someone who needs 17" 9s and 11s in 3 months from today and hasn't decided on a vendor?

My name has been mentioned in this thread a couple of times, I wanted to be clear that I am not associated with Zuffenhaus, or these wheels any longer. I have not been for approx 15 months.

Has anyone tried calling them to see what their plans are lately or is everyone just speculating on line? From my dealings with Zuffenhaus, I can say that they are good guys.

End the madness

Guys,

I placed an order with the Zuffenhaus guys ... Could not deliver.

I placed an order with Fikse ... Could not deliver.

I placed an order with Forgeline ... HOME RUN !!!!!

The guys @ Forgeline are professionals and they delivered a fabulous product exactly when they said they would.

The stock-look of the Zuffenhaus is certainly an attractive attribute of the wheel, but if you are pissed off after waiting for a year or more I'd rather just buy a Chevy and put some ugly Cragers on it!

Regards, Dave
