Hi,
Fuel pressure is fine and Car is running nice. Starting is also not a real Problem, but i like to have it a Little faster.
By the way the efi Setup is installed in an 914/6.

Regards Michael

Michael,
Well...none of them initially started immediately. i had to do quite a bit of farting around with each one of them.

Each one is a bit different, based on the engine, intake, injectors, etc, but it sounds like you've got it dialed in with the exception of some fine tuning during cranking.

try this....give it a little bit of throttle while cranking. If more throttle makes it easier to start, try less cranking pulse width. If it makes things worse, try more pulse width.

regards,
al

Thanks,
Over the years and course of developing these EFI systems....I've had shiny ones too...but i personally like the monochrome black/grey versions...with a small bit of bling here and there for contrast.

I just had a new run of adapter/mounting plates machined and I'm building up some new kits...if anybody out there is interested.

Have you seen danstengineering.co.uk
I am no connection with this company and have not seen their work, but the manifold for Triumph TB's for Porsche 3.0 and 3.2 looks interesting.

I bought one - did the full install (new ECU, ignition system, and full throttle body kit) from purchase to running well in around 2 months, part time (mostly weekends, some evenings).

I am currently working with a company in australia to configure their EFI products for use on the 911.
I have the 1st set of beta test units on my bench right now. We are making some minor changes and will be installing them on a hot rod 3.0 build i have underway. They are currently pretty colorful, but once I have them dialed in (1st priority)...then I'll work on the aesthetic aspects (although the colors are growing on me.) These are a very well thought out, modular design that provides flexibility regarding intake tract length via spacers and stack options. o-ring seals throughout. My plan is to offer these units for the same price I have been offering my Speed Triple kits. Stay tuned.

regards,
al

PS: I'm already working with one of the best, custom Porsche builders on the west coast to configure these units for a GT3-ish, common plenum design.

Here's a few pix of the protos.............this design is a straight shot into the intake port and the second pic gives you an idea of the overall height compared to my Speed Triple design. Intake length is adjustable via spacer and velocity stack length options.

al

RHD already offers 911 specific throttle bodies as your pictures show, what are you adding to their product?

RHD puts out very well thought out products in my opinion, it's nice to have them turning their attention towards the 911.

While RHD makes great products...all/most of their experience is with BMWs and tuner cars........they don't have any real experience with installs/fitment on 911s. Here is what I am adding......many years of experience related to porsche 911 engine building and the design, installation and tuning of EFI systems for Porsche 911 engines.........The units that you see on my bench are the 1st prototypes for 2-bolt 911 fitment and I am working directly with RHD..... providing the experienced design review, which has resulted in required changes for these units. RHD, based on my feedback, is now making these changes and will provide me with the modified units by the end of the month. They are turning their attention towards the 911....and I am working directly with RHD to help them do that. Going forward, we have a business agreement the provides me with exclusive sales/distribution for the RHD Porsche products for the Western states and provides them with entry into the Porsche world and the U.S. market via my webstore.

I hope that answers your question.............

regards,
al

It does, thank you.

What engine management are you going to pair with the RHD throttle bodies?

There are lots of controller options these days and most are pretty good, but typically I have been using M'squirt units from DiyAutotune (fully assembled and tested) or AEM/Infinity that I have been getting from Rasant. These are both excellent controllers and I have resellers agreements with both of these suppliers...as well as PMO and TWM/Borla.....so I basically can offer many different system configurations, depending on the engine build and customer requirements.

I just completed this project........1981 911SC with PMO EFI and Rasant/AEM Infinity controller.

I communicated with RHD before I decided to go with a GSXR-based setup. They gave some really good technical advice on sizing, but at the time, they did not have a good 2-bolt adapter to link the inlet port to the throttle body (unlike the 3-bolt adapter). It was just a generic extension piece that needed porting and modification to the flange. That's great they designed something custom for you - interested to see pics.

Stay tuned.......more parts are headed my way and i'll start a new thread regarding the build of my 3.0, including the incorporation of the RHD EFI kit.

Looks Awesome, thanks.
Was it a hard job?
I've got the old 2.7S with SSI's and the original CIS. Was thinking about PMO carbs till I saw this thread.

Mechanically it was not difficult and I did not have to drop my motor.

Double checking everything and getting the AEM setup for initial start was tedious but not too difficult either.

The tuning process, however, was a pretty big learning experience for me. The online resources for this exist (on Pelican and various other websites) but there is not much of an intro, I found myself in the deep end of the discussions very quickly.

Al and a few others helped me out of a couple of jams as I got my feet under me and while I am still still refining my tune, I think I have the hang of it now.

I'd say you need to have a head for this - math, numbers, scientific method - kind of thinking. If you do, it's very doable in a couple of months and very rewarding.

x-faktory EFI kits

I shipped off two more EFI kits today, one to Pennsylvania and one to Minnesota and will ship one to Malaysia before the week is out....The kits have run the gamut from Speed triple ITBs with Megasquirt (as shown) to PMOs with Rasant AEM/Infinity systems.....they work great. I just received a pic of a Carrera in Ontario with one of my kits getting dyno tuned ..hopefully more on that later.....a good week for worldwide......EFI madness......

regards,
al

PS: I am in the process of building a 3.0 for a client in CA. TWM/Borla EFI/ITBs,,,hot cams, 9.5:1 JEs etc.....going for an old-school look and finish on this one.......stay tuned.
