Ok this what I was thinking of for the mounting plate it is a hammered finish and it will contrast with the shroud I will try it and see if I don't like it I will just start over. Not a very good pic, sorry!

Great progress.
I think I would lower the HID main light a little in your backer plate. This would effectively allow you to shim the light forward without hitting the lens and reduce the possibility of cutting a hole in the headlight bucket. Also, I think the visual effect of having some of the backer showing as a perimeter around the main light would enhance the overall look. My $0.02

I actually meant to have the projector lower but I kind of like it up there like that but we will see what the finished product looks like. There is a kind of symmetry of having the projector all the way at the top and the driving light at the bottom thats why I wanted a darker color for the mounting plate.

I have them put together after painting got the lights all straightened out and took a couple pics these are the finished product. I am pleased with how they turned out now comes the installation on the car and that will wait for warmer weather later on next week.

Great look. I wasn't so sure about the hammer paint finish, more the color but seeing the lights assembled they look great. Nice choice.
Now my dumb question. Do the projector lights still have high low beam? Please explain. |

Yes it has a high and low beam there is a solenoid that positions a shutter inside the projector that switches between the two and as for the hammer tone paint the pic doesn't do it justice it really looks good in person.

Yeah, the dark grey looks right. When you get them hooked up, don't forget to post a pic of the beam pattern, too. Looks good...

Thanks, I will, it is supposed to be warmer next week and since I am outside since I have my shop packed with stuff getting ready to move to the country I also dont have a place here that I can set the beam since I think you need at least 25-30 ft. but I will get pics of the install in the car and setting the lights.

Awesome job! I think the colors really pull it together and make it look it could have come from the factory. Where'd you get the Morimotos from and which shrouds did you use? Looking forward to seeing what they look like installed. This is definitely motivating me to bump this upgrade up in my list of projects.

Thanks for the link. I've been checking out The Retrofit Source and they seem to be one of the better vendors to deal with. Did you have any issues ordering from them?

I got one on and tested
I have 1 light mounted and tested I had to move the pinout on the H-1 plug as I guess that H-4 lights and H-1 lights have different pinouts but after I got that figured out and checked it out everything works good and the pattern is fantastic I took a couple of pics of the light on but will reserve taking any pics of the light pattern until I can actually put the light on a wall for fair comparison.

Things to do: get the harness ran, wire the driving lights, modify the other bucket and get both weather sealed to keep dust out, adjust the driving lights and I dont think its needed but adjust the projectors and get them sealed up with silicon then get them permanently mounted. I also have to find a alternate location for the gas evap expansion tank (I suppose it has to be mounted above the gas tank) and reinstall the washer tank which I think I will get a smaller one and mount it elsewhere also. Any ideas as to a washer tank I could use?

Nice work 'G', those look good!
Much better than the garbage HID conversions with the terrible light patterns.

The cutoff on these is nice and crisp it is like a straight line about 4 foot off the ground but like I said I don't have a wall to set this up on until I get the car out to the new house where I have a side of the house to shine the lights on or the garage wall. I will finish the install and and rough adjust them so I can drive the car it will be done in a couple of days.
