Back to work on the 959 tonight...

Had a rough day, so I decided to retreat to the garage to work on the 959. I'm replacing the discs, and the shocks, and still working on the hydraulic accumulators. I don't have much time to caption, but I can post a few pics... -Wayne

Wayne, I love the fact that the car is not spotlessly clean.

what's up in #1? did you have to grind off a frozen bolt head to separate the caliper halves? Do you have to break open the calipers every time you replace the pads? (doubtful for a car built for endurance racing?) consider yourself lucky that your garage was warm enough to work in without gor-tex mittens and three layers of windbreakers (NJ=6 deg) Bill K

Did the 959 use 903 size rotors? 304x232 and 309x28 or something bigger? 23.8mm m/c?

Looks like a broken guide pin/bolt on the handbrake caliper. Do you even need to remove those pins? It's a single piston sliding caliper that could come off with the ear mounts vs. "splitting" the caliper.

Looks like the wheel well of a 737! Thats a lot of stuff in there. I would hate to run over a cat at high speed, might make a mess.

Every rough day is made better by retreating to the garage to work on the ol' 959-er. I guess.

Are those accumulators similar to the ones on my '88 BMW 535i used for brake boost, IIRC?
