How to get less noise from a targa top
This is probably old knowledge but...
My targa top has always done the usual cacophony of noises when on the move. In the last week I started to think that most of the noise seemed to be of rubbing between the top and the front and aft rubber seals. Removed the top, tried a generous smear of petroleum jelly on the seals and went for a ride... Success, most of the noise has gone ! Now let's see how long it lasts... |

Use Di-electric Grease ( Silicon Based Paste Grease like 3m Silicon Paste, will rejuvenate the rubber parts ) at the rubber corners where it meets the rear and front seals, the pins and the pin receivers. I do this every 2 car washes, it really keeps her quite.
You can use the paste on the front rear seals, but if those are squeeking you have other issues, that is a sign of bad seals or worse bad latching mechanism/s. The latch and pins should keep enough pressure to keep those seals quite, it is normally the pins and pin receivers that rub and squeel. Jim
