Since 12 I had a hard time with the Oil cover which continued to run away on a weld and the only means found to stop the problem after two dismantling with every time drain away of the cover, was the cold epoxy weld.

The cover finally went back up and i have started the "beast"

Warm a good quarter of an hour in Fog!!!!! (Between the paint of the silencer which began to cook and wd40, penetrating oil X and a bottom of oil Y which sank on heat exchangers during work in .......) it was style " Indian smoke signal " in front of house. :D

Of the blow I doubled effort and I put myself in mode "Putty"!!!!

Front bumper before

I had made a wire netting for the hole of the front but I was not satisfied with the depiction and with the finish

http://img15.imageshack.us/img15/1490/chocav8.jpg

Thus dismanteling

And complete sanding to obtain plan flat on the back.

http://img253.imageshack.us/img253/1270/mastic1.jpg

http://img195.imageshack.us/img195/6205/mastic2.jpg

after I drew places or I am going to add blocks to fix the new railing.

Then organized blocks in putty (sauerkraut in french) and sanding to level quite

http://img195.imageshack.us/img195/2480/mastic4.jpg

Implementation of the railing and the fixation (like that knockdown for the paint.

http://img401.imageshack.us/img401/8271/mastic5.jpg

And now one bumper at once more nice.

http://img708.imageshack.us/img708/8531/mastic6.jpg

The finish is better as well.

http://img525.imageshack.us/img525/5145/mastic7.jpg

http://img440.imageshack.us/img440/6887/mastic8.jpg

And for this attractive painted railing you said where i have found it ......

And indeed to the waste reception center

In fact they are tablets of one IT table

http://img18.imageshack.us/img18/1054/tablefi.jpg

We are DIY or not!

tof2.7 10-31-2011 02:18 AM

I took advantage to block the some hole which there was in Ducktail

before

http://img713.imageshack.us/img713/285/poncage1.jpg

And hanging

http://img850.imageshack.us/img850/3541/mastic3.jpg

I did not finish because I had hidden the phone at the time of the sanding but it is top.

Tomorrow holiday and with the weekend of November 11th I should have gone back up everything for road test and then we re-dismanteling for the epoxy paint the inside of polys.

tof2.7 11-03-2011 12:27 AM

Well finalization of the reassembly

For takes the lead or to catch up the delay, I decided to spend some evenings in the garage!

We attack of the blow details

Of all the polys, adorns it rear bumper seemed to me more light than the rest.

I thus spread it with two coat additional of fiber.

I took advantage of it to flood in the putty of the nuts for the fixations of adorn inaccessible bumper, example the top of adorns bumper which passes under the back crossbar will be fixed to this last one by three saw. At the beginning I thought screwed him but I think that it would not have liked in time I thus have preferred to leave on the bolting.

Attention picture before sanding.

http://img716.imageshack.us/img716/3541/mastic3.jpg

http://img266.imageshack.us/img266/2480/mastic4.jpg

I stopped aligning wings and hood (with the deleted holes of badge)

http://img42.imageshack.us/img42/6205/mastic2.jpg

I attack the alignment indicator block + railing + corner of the hood and there the material thus is missing I reloaded in the putty, by sanding I am going to reach coast wished.

tof2.7 11-03-2011 08:05 AM

but i have no particular skills, just a dream to live and not so much money i would like to have, so the alone way to have my replica is to have idea and make the max by myself. Sure that a professional will make a better work but in final when i will drive it , it was myself big boy toy ;):)

Are you happy with f-s-h body parts quality ?
I am also in Europe and i am considering using them to buy some body panels.
Where else do you buy parts from ?
This thread is a great inspiration to me

Horrido 11-10-2011 10:58 AM

Your project is an inspiration for my modest efforts.

Thanks for sharing so much of it.

:D

tof2.7 11-14-2011 03:50 AM

Thanks Horrido

For the legs of headlight

Thus we leave the size

http://img88.imageshack.us/img88/4286/fixphar1.jpg

We cut and one grindstone in the shape

http://img713.imageshack.us/img713/3116/fixphar2.jpg
we attack the polishing

and one obtain a nice result

http://img189.imageshack.us/img189/5074/fixphar4.jpg

http://img33.imageshack.us/img33/516/fixphar5.jpg

then mounted

http://img221.imageshack.us/img221/1089/fixphar6.jpg

And as we had on beautiful Sunday morning in the North of France, direction "the esplanade of Lille", for one test of rolling with polys.

Well some more of adjustment on indicators (the plate turns in painted time, because it will receive a plate in sticker on the hood ) the behavior is very good and the noise is top.

tof2.7 11-15-2011 04:12 AM

Yesterday evening i was irritated by some persons of my job .... .... then two choices to take a "xanax" or to spend one hour to do odd jobs on "the beast"

solution 2 was choosen.

Yesterday in full light I noticed that at the level fronts bars we saw good behind and that I had never noticed it on classics.

René on visit at the house gave me the reason, classics has tubs to battery which darken the back.

I thus worked on bars

A piece of bar, an electric pair of shears and it is left.

http://img221.imageshack.us/img221/1428/grille1g.jpg

http://img27.imageshack.us/img27/5219/grille2i.jpg

And two beautiful bars

http://img140.imageshack.us/img140/6854/grille3f.jpg

For the color I would see in the reassembly, black, dark gray, light gray!!!

I got down in realized also one of both day idea

Then at first a piece of plexi

http://img40.imageshack.us/img40/8626/fusible1.jpg

We cut and we make notches placed well (important)

http://img708.imageshack.us/img708/9365/fusible2z.jpg

And then .................. I let you guess :D

tof2.7 11-17-2011 11:04 PM

the answer : the plexis (Lexan to be exact)

Parts to be modified:

http://img833.imageshack.us/img833/8...1117103410.jpg

Cut of the more

http://img69.imageshack.us/img69/6062/fusible5.jpg

Sanding, adjustment and cut of the last piece of Lexan

http://img100.imageshack.us/img100/8938/fusible6.jpg

Assembly(fuse box)

http://img10.imageshack.us/img10/3851/fusible9.jpg

As behind there is electric cable and fuses, I put of the thermo self-adhesive girdle on all saw them.

http://img6.imageshack.us/img6/8029/fusible7.jpg

http://img718.imageshack.us/img718/1510/fusible8.jpg

Assembly(cover to box of webasto)

http://img141.imageshack.us/img141/3627/fusible10.jpg

There is not more than has to rise

http://img6.imageshack.us/img6/6677/fusible11.jpg

But before I have to file one of the edges of the lid of chest to adjust it at the top and to polish the edges of the plexi. the frame will be painted at the same time as inside of polys with the epoxy paint.

With this plexi we shall see well the beautiful battery gel and its support but it will be protected well.

tof2.7 11-21-2011 05:07 AM

Well this week not motivated (sad persons at job have mad my week end is not good)

Thus two three little gifts.

Put back in place ready parts with Lexan to see if it be going to make good

The fuse mask box.

http://img267.imageshack.us/img267/7...1119144720.jpg

The webasto place cover

http://img265.imageshack.us/img265/1...1119144711.jpg

Railings

http://img714.imageshack.us/img714/5...1119162744.jpg

http://img100.imageshack.us/img100/4...1119162812.jpg

And I attacked the crutch of the before hood .
The stalk and the axis

http://img256.imageshack.us/img256/9...1120184828.jpg

http://img51.imageshack.us/img51/974...1120184841.jpg

An original take on many levels, I like it!

Keep up the good work!

Cheers from sunny California (the other wine country)

tof2.7 11-22-2011 12:34 AM

Well I finished hood support an just have to found the system to block it

like that :

http://www.castorama.fr/images/products/h/h_976800.jpg

And a nice tip.

http://img233.imageshack.us/img233/9...1121171300.jpg

http://img51.imageshack.us/img51/824...1121193034.jpg

http://img208.imageshack.us/img208/7...1121193046.jpg

I have just to fix it now

tof2.7 11-23-2011 12:50 AM

When I bought the second-hand ducktail there were holes on the edge for the plate light but not these last ones. The being froggy one "G type" on the base it was necessary myself to put in search of an adequate part knowing that the old owner of the ducktail had made "wide" openings on the slice 25 mm in width and 80 mm in length.

Thus listening to only my courage I threw myself into the mud of a car scrap yard with my small meter-ribbon. After 10 minutes of an empty research, it appeared to me, a magnificent Citroën Xantia (french car) green English which had made a barrel. Measure taken I obtained 25*80 and swamp with luck the hood was opened on all the length giving access to the scouts.

Costs : 5 $

A colleague

http://faimg1.forum-auto.com/mesimag...antia%202b.jpg

:) (will need that I think of making them a sign when I would double them:D)

After cleaning

http://img811.imageshack.us/img811/2...1122214323.jpg

http://img35.imageshack.us/img35/304...1122214422.jpg

And presented, it will just be necessary me to block the hole which had made the old owner.

http://img41.imageshack.us/img41/514...1122205928.jpg

And I finished my block bar for the front hood.

I reduced the length of tube who receive saw it of preservation of the kneecap on the leg of fixation

http://img821.imageshack.us/img821/4...1122212913.jpg

With my clip

http://img27.imageshack.us/img27/802...1122212752.jpg

http://img64.imageshack.us/img64/926...1122212720.jpg

There is really a lots of details to be settled before making the final painting)......

tof2.7 11-23-2011 11:37 PM

so the block bar for the front hood is fixed and works good.

http://img444.imageshack.us/img444/7...1123190912.jpg

http://img163.imageshack.us/img163/8...1123190930.jpg

http://img163.imageshack.us/img163/1...1123190940.jpg

http://img406.imageshack.us/img406/4...1123191030.jpg

http://img64.imageshack.us/img64/652...1123191015.jpg

it will be more cool to work on the support for the tank cap...

tof2.7 12-07-2011 11:37 PM

after two week with no job on the RSR, because some trouble at work, the crisis have catch our factory and i don't know if i will guard my job or if i will lose it. I will know the decision for the end of this month.

http://img64.imageshack.us/img64/2113/cablage2.jpg

http://img812.imageshack.us/img812/3626/cablage1.jpg

http://img28.imageshack.us/img28/7271/cablage3.jpg
