ok after taking jason's advice I squirted some oil in each cyl and here are the results..What do you think?? this is still on a cold engine using the starter
1- 130 2 - 110 3 - 130 4 - 90 5 - 130 6 - 130 |
Well, if we compare the 2 readings we can see a pattern right? #4 is definitely suspect.
However, if it was me, I'd put it all back together properly and drive the snot out of it! Maybe you're looking at a rebuild/replace in the future but for now get her sorted and running smooth and just enjoy it! Check that off the list :) Good job |

It will probably run like that, but it might smoke a little. Running it may very well help the compression numbers as well. |
Thanks guys.. I think that is what im going to do. :) So now its time to put this back together! woo hoo. I can see the light at the end of the tunnel!

well now that i know I can proceed I sat down and started working on the wiring harness. I saw this one wire that didnt look right and it was one of the thermo switch wires..as I peeled the harness apart the wire was just destroyed all the way up to the connector. It was the yellow wire that went from pin one to the thermo switch and the other yellow wire went to the starter.. I have no idea what happened to it.. it looks like it melted and sort of just exploded. the coating was melted and the braided wire was just coming apart. glad i checked it out..
melted and exploded wire.. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1313367175.jpg I had to take the 14p pin connector apart to fix this properly. you can see the damage http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1313367252.jpg Here is the new wire soldered in place and heat shrink tubing in place.. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1313367338.jpg These 2 wires are the wires that lead to the reverse switch. The top one I fixed with solder and heat shrink tubing, the bottom one was just how I took it out of the car for reference. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1313367426.jpg |
My time sert kit came in for the transmission mounting holes. I may tackle this tonight if its not a 1000 degrees out in the garage. The adventure continues..

I agree. I was only able to get these so far. So I figured I would grab these up and continue to look for the other ones. If anyone has 1 and 2 for sale let me know. SmileWavy |
For some strange reason the PO just sliced thru this bunch of wires and just left them that way.. I guess rear lights are just overrated and unnecessary. go figure.. now I have something to do while waiting on parts. I stripped the covering back to fix it.
http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1313614455.jpg I found these two wires just hanging out. anyone know what they are for before I dig thru books? http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1313614571.jpg |
Alright, I have the wires soldered together and heat shrunk tubing on it and all wrapped up. I keep finding things in here that just makes me wonder..
all fixed up...http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1313620798.jpg Can anyone tell me what this is for?? Its the big item in the middle of the picture with the cable sticking out of it. The cable is not hooked to anything http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1313620892.jpg |
