| How About A Post Where All We Do Is Thank Wayne??
Well i was just reading through the back half of the 914 bbs and saw a post referring to not making money and had maybe 20 responds of nothing but good things to say.. I was reading and felt a purpose for everyone to just thank wayne cuz without this site.... Well hey lets not go there!! So from me wayne as someone who hasnt left the site in the last 6 months i wanna say thanks for all the great work and for having the best website out there for porsche. And in the sales business to, what seperates winners from loosers in the long run is service and you have the best.. So when most of us are drving our antique 993's this site will still be here and the other competion will be long gone.. Now go drive your car!!!! Thanks. yeah, wayne is really getting into this and it shows! Long live Pelican...it's kind of sad...I know the guys who work the showroom at Performance. They're way cool, but what can I say...this place has just become a paradigm for 'net community and aside from reading on the can, I'm going to have to let Perf go... But so what...now when I go down there, there are a lot of trucks and stuff rather than Pcars. They've expanded and good luck to em. ------------------ Kurt B 1984 Carrera Cabriolet 911 Page carrera_cabriolet@yahoo.com

Wayne - Thank you. Your site does more than help us understand our cars. With your permission, I'd like to feature Pelican in a college textbook - nationwide, largest publisher in my discipline, speech communication - which highlights Pelican as an excellent example of how people can use computer-mediated communication to form community. Pelican is one of the best examples I know (or check umpteen times a day) to elaborate how people can get to know each other around a common topic and form relationship in significantly meaningful ways. Kurt nailed it - new "paradigm for 'net community." This is a business model that works, and will continue to work. Congratulations on the fruits of your labor - you deserve it. By all means, use us in a textbook. Thank me by telling all your friends (even the Boxster and BMW ones) about Pelican. The bigger the community, the more $$$ we make, and the better the site and the resources get. And just wait until the 101 Projects Book comes out, I have something special in store! -Wayne

It's true. In addition to giving a bunch of car guys an extra venue to talk through, this board is also a successful example of a new kind of social group -- one that's driven by a new technology and is historically unprecedented, in terms of who partipates and how they participate. It's a group of perfect strangers, scattered all over the globe, all united by a niche interest in a particular make and model of car. It's strange, but it works. I've made some good friends on this board, many of whom I'll never actually speak to or see. One day, academic types will look back to this era and wax philosophic about the way the internet and a handful of forward-thinking individuals changed both commerce and the global culture. (Until then, I'll just spend less on unnecessary repairs!) You're not just a smart businessman, Wayne, you're also a cultural pioneer. Wayne I'm in the USAF stationed in England. I've only had my car for about 1 year and I've found this sight to be invaluable!!!! Prices down town are out of sight. The exchange rate stays at about $1.40 to 1 Pound, and there is 17.5% VAT on top of that!!! So I depend on you guys for my parts. I've never gotten a part that wasn't right. Just wanted to say THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Jason Wilson '79 SC Euro F-15E Crew Chief

With +6000 registered BBS members if only a fraction use your sale dept. this board must help. Not only that but it definately helps to keep alive cars that might have rotted in a garage somewhere! As for the social addiction- I wish you had not done the chat room now my wife is REALLY mad- she can never get on the computor My only concernmay be how many divorces and jobs lost through it! This community is really alive with information, humour and caring!. Wish there was an award we could reccomend you for!......Anyone? rgds Ben -Those smileys made me scream!

I think the biggest thanks would be to BUY something from Pelican Parts! Wayne, since I 've run out of things to upgrade on my car, do you sell the same Porsche apparel available from the dealer, so I could use that as an ordering guide? One can never have too many clothing items with the word "Porsche" on it! ------------------ 8 9 9 1 1, The last of the line.

I used to visit Pelican before I bought my car just so I could read the article and look at the pictures. Since I've bought my car I'm here at least once a day. The site is great and your customer service is awsome. Whenever I need parts or have a question, I always check here first. Thanks Wayne! Justin 70 914-6
