Lol, I have enough to do these days with work and my 911 harness "hobby".
This fall/winter has been absolutely crazy with people wanting harnesses.
I'm beginning to think that when I am eligible to retire in 5 1/2 years it will just be stopping one full time job and moving to another!

Get that motor back together without leaks my friend, it will be so much nicer to be able to park it on the top of the lift above your other classic. :)

Keep the Targa bar black, the stealth mode looks better, IMHO

Time for some creature comfort and fuel mods. I have an aggressive schedule for them, but I will take my time to make it right...

Day 1

Ups a daisy... Man I love having that lift.

Classic Retrofit Electro Cooler Condenser and fan loosely mounted.

Boxster W/S washer bottle installed.

Straight on pic of the bottle. Not visible, and has good tire clearance.

Funny thing is, I’ll have to make a new engine harness for myself with these upgrades.

;)

timmy2 05-31-2021 03:03 PM

Holy crap!
I hate the PO of this car.
I’d never been into that area of the car in the past.
Building myself a new dash harness now.....

This project is morphing quickly...

timmy2 06-01-2021 04:34 PM

Day 4 already...
Well that was fun..(NOT!)
Old dash harness is out. New one will be going on tomorrow. :D

The very worst dash harness I have ever seen is destined for the trash bin.
And believe me, I’ve seen some really bad ones...
How ironic it was in my own car...SmileWavy

Pile of crap below. Seriously, how you see it, is how it was sitting on the car. No tape, and old school crimp butt splices for house wiring!! Never mind the wild assortment of spliced in wire colors...

Trunk sans dash harness and fuse panel. (New one going in.)

timmy2 06-01-2021 04:36 PM

All because I wanted to add A/C...
Actually a good thing. That harness was a fire just waiting to happen...

LJ851 06-02-2021 04:08 AM

Is it slightly ironic that the guy that makes top quality 911 wiring harnesses has wiring that looks like that in his personal car ?! I’m sure it will be fantastic when you are through.

How is that Bitz efi kit I sold you holding up?

timmy2 06-02-2021 06:25 AM

Lol, yeah. The irony is killing me.
Just like most mechanics I’ve known over the years never fix their own cars...

The Bitz kit still works great, but that system will get replaced with PMO ITB’s very soon.
Maybe even this week after/if I ever get the Electric A/C installed...

It was 95 here yesterday. A/C is becoming a necessity to enjoy driving as I get older and Oregon gets hotter every summer.

timmy2 06-02-2021 07:51 AM

New dash harness. It looks a lot better than the one I removed...
I’ll be terminating at the fuse panel and battery as I install it. I have some wiring changes I want to make. Sure hope I can figure out what wire goes where...:D;)

timmy2 06-02-2021 03:19 PM

Well that was a ton of fun today. NOT!
New dash harness and fuse panel (sans fuses) installed.
All instruments/gauges hooked up, I even remembered to connect the multiple 6 pin under dash connectors..

Now I can get back to where I was with the A/C installation.

timmy2 06-02-2021 03:26 PM

Lol, right back to day 2 of the A/C install....
Day 5 in the garage.

timmy2 06-02-2021 08:19 PM

Worst part of the install as mentioned by many is the drivers side vent and duct installation. I fully agree, what a pain in the butt...

The worst and last part was getting the hood strut back in. What a stupid design.

Drivers side done, other side looks easier.
That’s enough for one day...

I installed an RS hood prop after struggling with several hood shocks on customer cars, what a PITA to put the bottom pin back in :D
A couple of weeks ago I shorted out my dashboard lighting loom (long story, a mistake I'll NEVER make again), I feel your pain, working under the cowl is for contortionists.

Being 6’2” tall and 240 lbs is not conducive to being a contortionist...
I’m sore in places I didn’t know existed...

timmy2 06-03-2021 08:04 AM

Finished all of the upper cowl ductwork rough in. Still need to work on the lower stuff inside the car to the heat supply vents.
The passenger side was a piece of cake to do compared to the drivers side.
Especially the hood strut!

Under dash ducts reconnected and installed the A/C push button and wired in the hot and ground for it while I was under there.
Pulled the alternator and used the John Walker 2x4 drop method. Worked great.
Threaded the nut back on the alternator till flush and using the same 2x4’s and a sand hammer easily knocked the fan off. Next up is building and replacing the engine harness.

Had to work on the wife’s rig today too, so not a lot getting done.

Just finished up building myself a new engine harness with big fat Electric A/C capable cables.
I decided to make the ignition wiring detachable so if/when I decide to change to COP’s or whatever, I can just unplug and remove it.

Tomorrow, on my birthday, I will likely do an engine drop and install the harness, the new 185 amp alternator and then swap in a toothed wheel crank pulley.

Then it is time to finish up installing the rest of the A/C. Maybe before the week is over...
