Idea for a daily driver / modern day RSR lookalike
Just shootin the breeeze...
I really like the looks of an RSR (from the 70's not the 997 one) and would like to be able to drive one on a day to day basis... Is it possible, or better, did anyone did it, to backdate a 993 to an RSR look ?? As the 993 is really the most "daily-driver friendly" aircooled 911 in existence. Seems a good project... |

If you have the "deniro" then this is available.
But you could build one yourself that would be just as good. I would start with an 87 to 89 impact bumper car. G50 Gearbox and 3.2 litres! What's not to like? 964 or 993 are just too complicated in my book. You can get very effective air conditioning and heating for the older cars now. ![]()

Well, I was looking at a much cheaper "version" of the singer...
![]() You make sense, it's just that the 993 is probably the most "advanced" (and economical, and powerful) iteration of the aircooled, so I figured it would be a better / easier start. Just dreaming, anyway. Today, I brought my 74 to work, so it also qualifies as a daily driver ! |

pjr-When you have time, do a search. I can't recall the member's names off hand but we have had several Pelicans do this project.
There is/was a guy in North Carolina, I think, that builds these for clients. Porsche Doc,maybe?

Search for Porsche Doc...we had this very discussion at Mayo's here in the DFW area...guys wanting improvements of the Carreras and newer cars but with the retro/longhood look. Porsche Doc did this on a 964 and it was stunning. I just can't bring my self to do it to my 88 but I'm tempted.

Less brakes, more gas!

Don (Porsche Doc) has done 2-3 964 back dates IRRC. They are awesome! All the amenities and power with all the looks. Of course... all the weight too...
