I don't know. There's a thread lurking on here somewhere where Grady Clay talks about clutch cables, and how there's 2 different ones you can get. He says the Gemo cable with "Made in Germany" on the Bowden tube is the BAD one. Problem is the hook-end Gemo is the ONLY cable of its type I've ever seen for sale on any website. I don't know what or where the "good" one is. I know that between the old and new one I got--same brand, construction, type, everything--the only difference was the length of the threaded end. And the shorter end made the difference for me.

At least you've got a lot of fresh parts and can feel good about solving the problem. Good job figuring it all out, and I hope you have many more summers of driving her instead of working on her, in your future.
