Speedometer Question

Hello All,

I have an 84 Carrera with a stock 3.2.

This may sound like a dumb question but can I drive the car without the speedo in place?

I'm going to have the speedo worked on but still need to drive the car; is this going to disrupt anything, electrically? I don't want to short something out.

Let me know your thoughts.
Thanks.

Your car won't care. Just make sure to take a picture of the back of the speedometer with all of the wires attached before you disconnect anything. Easier to remember months later when you go to reinstall.

Make sure nothing "hot" can ground...I have read several times about owners melting wires, smoke etc

Wrap each connector with good electrical tape and then tie them up in a location where they cannot touch each other or ground. Label them well and take good pictures. Make yourself a drawing too.

If you have it, the cruise control wont work as I am almost positive that it takes an output from the speedo. Other than that you should be fine.

Regards
Dave
