Front Strut Tab Washer Question
I was replacing the washer on my front struts with my recent strut replacement. Does the tab washer that sit between the cup/saucer washer and nut on top get bent upwards to hold the nut in place? I know that the car has some nuts held in place by a bent washer. Or does it stay flat and provide tension to lock the nut?
Thanks, Chuck Last edited by mercury26; 02-24-2012 at 09:57 AM.. |

It should be a warped washer, not bent up

The tabbed washer is not warped, if you are meaning wave washer.

my recollection is that on my SC the washer was designed to be bent up to lock the nut, as you surmised. you use a punch to flatten it to remove the nut. on some cars it may have been replaced with another type of lock washer.
